And then paying out coaches every 2 years.
No wonder we’re not in a strong financial situation.

He owed the mistake, sure you can judge him on that. I’d rather judge him on the people he has in place now in Vozzo, Scott and Rosa. If you don’t want to back them in then vote the other way.
I have no problems with the change of direction after 2022.
It wasn’t a newly planted low (in all honesty 2013 to 2016 were worse), but it was much the same of previous regimes since the early 2000s.
It’s fair to say no one thinks that significant change wasn’t needed.
Where it gets dirty is whether these new actions are different and on the improve. Most people go by feel (based on what they see). So it feels worse because a good portion would prefer to tank than stay in the middle like we’ve been performing either side of the saga.
There’s also been issues over the CEO selection and also staff payout issues. I have no troubles with the payout issues. Once you know a person is not fit for a particular plan, look to move them on. If it comes at a cost, so be it.
The CEO selection is a stain against the board that’ll be hard to clear. And rightly so. You just can’t sugar coat having to move on a CEO that’s been hired only a few hours after being anounced publicly.
I’m probably going to stick with voting the way I’ve been leaning in the last month. But I don’t see there being a problem if any of the other 3 candidates make it onto the board.
I honestly think there is enough board members to continue whatever plan they have begun and keep reviewing it, tweaking it and improving on it as we go along.
Even an ‘agent of change’ choice won’t stop the plan from progressing, but will delay its implementation. I doubt it’ll affect it by so much that the plan fails. If it’s that finely tuned and reliant on such few variables, then the plan is too rigid to begin with.
I’d probably lean against another ‘agent of change’ moment. I don’t think 2 years is enough of a sample size but understand the issue of adding another year to the ‘last 20 farking years’. Another ‘agent of change’ moment would require the clock to start again and to be given time to actually bear some fruit. It’ll need to be more than 2 years.
If anything, a board challenge would be more ‘agent of change’ worthy. Because that way, you’d probably get more insight into the current plan the board is implementing and assess it against the ‘agent of change’ challenge movement and go in that direction.
Cal Twomey weighs in
Well, well the AFL backs Barham. The franchisor tells the members of the franchise how to vote. Essendon needs to be independent of the AFL Board.
Twomey should stick to being the draft guru.
Would’ve been easier to get Damo to write it.
IF…
The Bomber fans don’t re-elect Barham
THEN…
They’ll have no #stability or #unity
The board members that extended Xavier Campbell’s contract in secrecy, should have been held accountable.
I’m guessing the main culprits were Brasher, Wellman, Madden, Allen, (and likely another Board member who gave them the numbers).
They’re responsible for a six figure payout to Campbell
He’s right last thing we need is another board upheval
upheval?
it’s two spots out of nine
He has as much right to talk about it as you.
Did I say he didn’t have a right to speak about it? He is using his platform on the AFL website to simp for the Essendon President and upcoming Board elections.
Personally, I find that that to be gross.
I however, am just a nuffie on a nuffie forum, and what I say holds zero sway or influence.
Pretty obvious Paul Weston was not the come in and create stability type. His words for me was about upheaval and starting again. Called out players, coach and board as not working
Prerry sure that is what you were implying. Not sure what else could be inferred to be honest.
Your constant catastrophic thinking is just fascinating
Sounds like a you problem to me.
Why can’t you just pay your membership, shut up, and be happy?
I don’t have any problem with Cal Twomey and his article…but you do apparently - you made a post about it.
I just find it amusing, that Dave Barham was staggered that some big name coaches didn’t want to put their hat in the ring……. after the way the club treated Rutten.
I think Andrew Welsh will get voted in so its a smooth transistion from Barham
