Durham hasn’t shown any captaincy qualities. McGrath is the only one who has. He’ll be better than Merrett.

I think in life that would have to be one of my least concerns.
There is next to no chance Zach Merrett captains the footy club.
It’ll be McG. And he’ll be the right choice.
Couple of reasons:
He’s safe and consistent on and off the field as a leader. Will look after the younger ones which is hugely important going forward. Unselfish, reliable and a strong voice. All good traits.
He’ll also be the bridge between Merrett and a few that I detect would rather Zach wasn’t there next season e.g. Redman, Durham. Will keep the peace and the Execs love him.
He’ll also let the core group just get on with it. Guys like Duz, Caldwell, Martin, Langers, Duursma, Caddy, Roberts and Ridley can just get down to teaming properly now and looking after their fitness under the watchful eyes of the new S&C team.
If the playing group vote for anyone else I’ll be shocked tbh. Red Dog as his vc and barnyard dog too.
