The captain wont be chosen by the club.
It’ll be a player led vote.
And I’d expect McGrath to win the vote.
Redman should be the vice.
I’d have a bit of a chuckle if it were Merrett and Redman as co-VCs.
Unfortunately we do not have great captain choices.
Nah.
Purely players voting.
They get to choose.
It’s standard practice across the league.
No funny buggers with it.
I don’t think Brad cares whether the captain is Zach or Andrew. He gets along well with both.
Nevermind though. Wait until McGrath starts turning the ball over again. That St Kilda game will be so far back in the rear vision mirror, even us fans would want anyone else to lead the team again.
McGrath C, Langford VC, Durham DVC. Most of the job is being professional and putting in 100 per cent all the time. I think these blokes do this the most. McGrath’s style grates some, but he seems to have a lot of buy in from the kids.
Zach, Redman, Roberts and Fiorini on call as ears on the ground and sounding boards to discuss issues.
I really dislike seeing McG run out of the backline and butcher it by hand or foot. I love his endeavour and his one on one work. I think he is a born leader and this will present an opportunity that he will absolutely relish. Despite Ridley’s flirtation with leaving, it wouldn’t surprise to see him in the leadership group as a trusted lieutenant.
I think we’ll look back and wish we’d replaced Merrett much earlier.
Anybody who bitched and moaned when Merrett wasn’t in the leadership group and then cheered for him to be made Captain - because, you know he’s a good player and that’s all that matters - and then celebrated when he was made captain, don’t get to post in this thread.
