He hasn’t learnt from his mistakes, he cut the list hard in his final year at north. He’s going to suffer the same end again

He didn’t say “up to” 9. He said if we draft 4 players, 8 or 9 players have to come off the list. With 2 first round picks and 2 likely NGA players, 4 players is probably our starting point.
That’s 8 players gone if we take no rookies, no SSP, and don’t trade anyone in.

Is that the number to get to 4 draft picks (2x1st + 2x2nd). Assume they will just get to whatever number allows that, and whatever other trade ins they might get. Not expecting 8 or 10 new players

We should be looking at 6 draftees and potentially 1 SPP or Rookie pick.. So will need at least 11 players gone.

I get the sense Peter Wright is a very good person to have to teach the younger keys I wouldn’t get rid unless the trades too good to turn down, McMahon and Lual should get a contract.
Not fussed about the rest apart from that.
I wouldn’t let Peter Wright anywhere near the younger players. Will never fullfill his true potential. Minimal 2nd efforts.

Out of the 12 left. I would only keep 3 (mcmahon, prior, blakiston) and then theres all the duds who have a deal for next year + the cooked senior veterans. I dont know where we find at least 9 replacements

I will be dissapointed if we got rid of Blakiston, Lual or McMahon. They showed something and the first two improved as they played more.
You can’t rely on a week draft to pick up 10-12 players. They can play until other young players develop, for example Vigo can develop in the 2s and Blakiston can help out ruck in the 1s.
McMahon can help out Gerryn, even in the 2s.
