Mine cost $160 about 3 years ago to run a direct cable from switch box to a dedicated 32AMP outlet

Just received car insurance renewal. Gone up to nearly $2800 for my 2022 Model 3. Currently with Alliance, is there anyone out there with cheaper rates ?

Feel it is just very high, seeing two years ago it was $1800, the excess is $850.

The insurance premiums are utterly ■■■■■■. Partially as a result of incredibly expensive repair costs of modern cars.

I just paid about 2600 to have a Zappi installed right next to the meter box. It did need an additional circuit and switchboard put in.

Thanks, price for Tesla was about $1500. Excess is higher and it doesn’t cover as much but worth thinking about

I wen through RACV for our BYD, $1588p.a, but I jacked up the excess in order to achieve that…

I’m an accredited Suncorp broker for insurance, if anyone wants to see if I can beat their quote send me a DM, sometimes it works out better and sometimes worse depending on circumstances.

(I am an asset finance broker, doing mainly vehicle/equipment loans FYI)

I was with QBE and swapped to CGU (through a broker). $1,955 for a 2023 Kia EV6. WAs $2,430 last year before swapping.

Just shop around, if you stay with one provider every year it just keeps ramping up.

I had one insurer sinply state that they won’t insure it.

Too expensive to repair.

It’s a 2023 Hyundai, not a a 1963 Ferrari GTO!

Any thoughts on GEELY Mrs HOGALF test drove the ex 2 inspire .. she thought it was better then the ATTO 3

Geely owns Volvo, and is a major stakeholder in Lotus.

They have access to carmaker experience that many of the other EV manufacturers don’t, and by all reports make great cars.

They aren’t a small company by any means. They also own Polestar, LEVC, that makes black cabs in UK, controlling stake in Malaysia’s Proton. They’re a 50% partner with Mercedes Benz in Smart.

BYD is a battery company that makes EVs. They make pretty good cars too, but they’re learning as they go. They don’t have access to the same decades of regular car manufacturing experience like Geely does

That’s all fair enough, but you have to admit that BYD have learnt pretty quickly

I’m not dissing BYD. They’ve been solid. And their current generation EVs in China - the incoming new generations they will bring here very shortly are leaps and bounds ahead of what they’re selling here right now

The price quoted for my 2023 Model 3 was $3400…absolutely disgusting.

I made the mistake of adding under 25YO kids to an initial quote from Allianz. It was something North of $7K. I went with RACV for around $2.5K. I was relieved enough with that, that I must admit I didn’t look further.

EDIT: including glass and under 25YO kids with an extra excess

I can’t wait to see the xpeng L03. this one could really shake the whole industry . I also note from my perspective and others I would guess , it has 1500 kg towing and a free towbar. I have a camper trailer that would be well under 1500 kg. so this combined with the erev option means I would possibly still get 600 700 ? in a 40 ltr fuel supply , even towing my van with v to l of 3kw, this could be amazing for this scenario

the ev only range is supposed to be over 200klm which in itself addresses 90% of my use. all this for maybe 45k possibly with autonomous drive

Tesla have insurance offered through Zurich. My Model 3 is about $1900, nearly $1000 cheaper than Allianz.

Thank you for the reference. I’ll look into it.
