To make way for the new model they are doing it at 59k driveaway.

And yeah fairly low range.

Its probably excellent relative buying as 90% of urban driving is short.

The new one though may come in at that price point. Lot of pressure from competitors now.

Nah, in doncaster, I was being and playing with the tesla toys and 1.5 tonne of red car rolled very slowly down the hill. I am not a great driver, and it is not old age, always been very average behind the wheel.

I love my mini. 50th anniversary edition.

The Hyundai ionic 5 got the N treatment.

600+ horsepower is pretty wild.
0-100 in 3.4seconds.
All sorts of features that will annoy ICE and EV enthusiasts. Fake EV or ICE noise, fake gear changes, drift mode, rev limiter.

Only for the runout model for existing Australian stock which have the low range of about 200KM.

Reckon the new model may be towards $60,000 as it will have nearly double the range and some other nice features, made by Great Wall in China.

Existing was already 60± before options. You were close to JCW money.

It’s a bit of a rubbish article to be honest.

For what it’s worth, total # of vehicle sales are down since the peak in 2017. Most of that is in ICE.

There has been a fair bit of disruption across the whole industry, with chip shortages, supply chain issues and high prices.

Do manufacturers need to accept that change might not be initially profitable?

China is dominating the EV space is why. Esp with the government willing to subsidise the vehicles.

That and mercedes ev offerings are mixed compared to their established ICE offerings.

Lithium prices are plummeting and capacity is high. So battery prices(i know there is more than lithium to a battery but still) I think may follow.

There could be quite a significant tipping point where EVs are substantially cheaper to buy/own than a petrol equivalent.

For price sensitive buyers that will matter, not so much the average merc buyer.

I think the big traditional vehicle companies are trying to gouge us, whilst the general public is financially strapped.

Plus old cars prices have gone up since Covid.

Our currency is pretty ordinary too

Pretty dull collection of vehicles if you want my 2 cents.

SUVs have not only taken over the market, they dominate the designs and yes, there is a marked sameness about how they look, which is bland with side serve of uninteresting.

That should help sales of locally made… wait never mind.
