Electric Motor Vehicles

I mean - it’s all a matter of opinion, right? But I can’t stand the huge Ipad sticking out in the middle of the dash.

The tesla charging network is what would sell me one.

Yep, all of them were like normal cars to me, except for larger displays than most cars, though Mrs Foxes Lexus RX350 has a large screen.

The Tesla is very sparse in comparision.

I also found that the Tesla drove a little different, inthat it seemed more responsive and drove around corners better. It does have lots of zip when you plant the foot.

I get that. But I am used to it now.

I do wonder what you do though if the screen dies ??? Not only would there be no speedo etc, but no idea about what gear you are in, maybe they could stream it to my phone !!

Probably I would just walk away and catch an Uber.

Mrs Fox the second (colourcode blue) had a mega-rich Grand-Dad who got a new Jaguar every year on his birthday. He only ever drove it from his home in Kew to his Farm near Mansfield every week and return. Once on the Black Spur (or so the story goes) his Jag just stopped and refused to start. so Big Jack pushed it off the road in the bush and got a lift back to Kew. He got someone to call his Jaguar Dealer to find it and collect it, and from then on for the last 5 years of his life he got a new Commodore every birthday. He would have hated EVs.

As much as Tesla fans love the big screen, and I could get used to it, it’s the little things that make it painful. You have to use the screen to open the glovebox is one example.

I’ll be interested to see if the latest arrivals of electric vehicles have any features removed as a result of the semiconductor shortages.

Out of frustration, I’m back looking at ICE and their delivering mostly low spec cars. The VW Tiguan has a couple of safety features removed that are standard in many cars. As well as leather seats, heated seats, electric seats. Again, these are pretty standard these days.

So, not only do we not have sufficient supply of EVs. The ICE cars coming out are really low spec. and seem even less worth buying.

You can also use voice control, unless you gave it a PIN number to secure it. Just press the voice button on the steering wheel and say “Open the glovebox” and it opens up !!

I am using voice control more and more, turning up the aircon fan by saying “Blow me” is a bit naughty though !!

A lot of that sounds like technology for technologies sake.

“Mrs fox, I was talking to the car! Don’t make me sleep in the car again!”

The same idiot who said that if only we knew Jenny Morrison, we’d all vote for Smirko at every opportunity.

That, no doubt, was why Mad Ted wanted to have words with him.

I imagine guys like this to have names like Ted, Ian, Ken etc.
(No offence to cool men who happen to have these names, I think they come with the age group)

Probably button their shirts up too tight and are just a bit religousy and weird. Self funded retiree most likely.

Seems to fit in with the guy who would get an electric car just to see if it can do a drive he would never do normally and the point out how useless it is compared to a petrol powered vehicle.

His name is James

Can imagine a James. I wonder if he fits my stereotype

This is James, nor sure he fits your image, but he is scumbag journalist.

Did 306 Ks today on the Hume at 110kmh. Used 79% charge. So by my calculations, highway range is about 380ks for me on that particular trip.

Didn’t charge on the way up, but stopped at Euroa, and would’ve charged at 350Kw charger if I could. The place was chaos for petrol, food and electrons. Of the 4 chargers, 1 not working, 1 with a Tesla taking up a spot but not charging, 1 with an older couple that couldn’t figure out how to use the Chargefox app, and 1 that seemed to be working.
