EPL 2023/24

Going to get very ugly

Klopp gonna burst a valve😂

2-2 with 5 to go. Salah equalises from the spot as Bruno and the excellent Mainoo saw Utd take the lead after Diaz opened the scoring first half. Liverpool should’ve been out of sight at HT.

Dents Liverpool’s title hopes, I’ll take that. AWB you idiot!

Stupid challenge by AWB in the box to give the penalty.

Title race is on!

Going to be tough for any team to win all 21 remaining points but whoever goes closest wins it. Though Arsenal essentially have .5 of a point with their goal difference at the moment.

City look to have the easiest run of games, while Liverpool play 4 away games. Arsenal have to go to Tottenham and United, though they have been unbelievable away from home in 2024.

Then all 3 playing in Europe, too.

City and their squad depth would be favourites, just, imo.

Tottenham had a very fortunate first half - arguably Maddinson should have been sent off, Murillo scored an OG and we could/should have been 2-1 up at the half nonetheless.

But we were not the better side in the 2nd half. Once again, this side can compete with anyone for patches, but not for full games.

Oh, and you can only laugh at reports that EPL clubs are suddenly wanting to vote out the points deduction penalties for FFP/PSR breaches and replace them with fines!! No one seemed too fussed about Everton and Forest, so you have to wonder if/why the big boys are suddenly concerned… And of course, someone like City would be so deterred by a million pound fine if it wins them the titles - and resulting billion(s) they’re chasing…

Our draws against the top 6 will ultimately cost us the title.

Advantage arsenal

I didn’t see much in the Maddison grab/tap/hit whatever it was. Yates had been taking big bites of him up to that point, the ref did well to diffuse it.
Forest definitely deep in it in the first half. As fortunate as the goal was to squeeze under two defenders in the chain, I’ve no idea how Wood didn’t drill that from close range.

Spurs’ first halves are so predictable right now, struggle against the low block, maybe sneak a close in goal, but get opened up too easily going the other way.

The Ev cop another 2 point deduction

Agreed. The Maddison swing didn’t look like it had anywhere near the force to be called a punch.

Premiere league might be painting themselves into a corner. They know that all the big guys want cash penalties, because they can afford them, and money talks. All deducted points will probably be given back on appeal if it looks like causing relegation. Humungous can of worms waiting for the lid to come off.

Surely it’s time for the heat to come on Ange. His stubbornness and unwillingness to change this ridiculous high press defense is becoming comical. There’s talent in this squad that deserve better.

5th on the table ,10 but probably 7, after today’s game, points clear of 6 th . I can’t see the spuds doing better under anyone else.

He won’t change. And he shouldn’t. His record up until this point proves it. A year to settle, 3 windows and his own hand picked players. They’ll be top three next season.

If Spurs push him out, they’ll just continue being the Spurs they’ve always been.

It’s frustrating in games like this and the Fulham one, but the mids have been pretty poor of late, and it feels like he’s not sure how to set up the forwards for best effect. Agreed he needs some windows.

Nah, I don’t think they’ll be top 3. They might improve but this is the most talented league in the world, with elite lists and managers everywhere.

It might click but I can’t see Spurs leapfrogging the current top 3, and I’ve give United (with a decent manager) and Chelsea a chance of jumping them too.
