Ess v Coll Friday 3/7/20 - Where's the team?

Yep, anyone expecting anything from Fanta these days is really reaching. I really hope he gets back to what he was. But it’s starting to seem like a long shot. There were a couple of little signs last week that were good… but also lots of invisibility

Woosh just said spasmed at main training.

Not enough time for it to settle and then confident he could get through a game

As a gigantor who’ve had many a back spasm (and if any facet joints shift) he wouldn’t be doing much for 3-4 days let alone playing a game.

LAV

But Donga — Laverde’s Italian… Also he was all-Australian U18 for Vic Metro.

Yep really seems down on pace, forward nous and goal sense. So, so patchy compared to the Fanta we saw early on in before the injuries farked him. His line breaking run is missing and he seems largely AWOL. Razzle Dazzle (self proclaimed!) we need you!

Ins and Outs since last time they played.

Essendon INS: Hooker, Zaharakis, Ridley, Fantasia, Snelling, Stringer, Townsend, Phillips, Smith and Hibbered.
Essendon OUTS: McKenna, Merrett, Bellchambers, Ambrose, Francis, Jok, Brown, Begley, Hartley and Clarke.

Collingwood INS: Daicos, T Brown, Degoey, Stephenson and Cox
Collingwood OUTS: Noble, Thomas, Greenwood, Howe and Madgen,

Phillips in and Francis out? Has anyone actually seen them both in the same room at the same time?
Edit: Late to the party.

Well… seeing as a shiteload here have been asking for some size onball and for Belly gone for several years now, you might forgive us for not exactly bursting with joy that these roles are now being filled by rejects from other clubs… rather than quality picks/trades

I thought everyone here would be celebrating Belly having a rest and Phillips filling in.

The only player I really thought would get selected but didnt was McKenna.

Team lines up ok as well.

Hoping Hibberd throws some weight around. Townsend too.

Feel like another poor game from Towner, and hes out, hope LAV plays well and holds his spot.

Merrett to come back in next week.

Stewart and McKenna cant be too far away and once they are in we will look a lot better.

He watches other ruckman every week so he’s been able to observe what do. I’d say watches up close, but we all know he isn’t getting near them anymore.

Whoever our team is, they’ll feel pretty good about themselves after our inevitable, honorable loss, in a dull game.

Cahill is having a rapid rise. Good to see

Id like to see him. The forward line could do with a spark.

Not quite the changes I would have made, but they are clearly an attempt to address our biggest issues - clearances and transition.

Hibberd / Parish will be rotated through the middle. I don’t quite hold the high expectations for Pig mk2. that some here do, but we were utterly spanked last week - good luck to him. Parish should obviously be there, and Laverde (goal kicking woes aside) gives us a 3rd genuine marking target which will help straighten us up.

Bellchambers absence is the big reason for our improvement. I don’t hold high hopes for Philips long term, nor do I give him Buckley’s of even halving the ruck contest tomorrow. However, Bellchamber’s effort on the weekend was one of the most embarrassing performances I can remember. His direct opponent had eight clearances, and yet Tom could not manage a single tackle. He has taken two marks in 3 games this season. I think every single player will look better once we have a fighting chance in the middle.

We’ll win.
