Collingwood games always bring such good memories.
Remember last year, when we rested a lot of players, and some of us thought it would be okay to lose because we’d most likely then play Collingwood again in the first final at the G?
And then the Hawks screwed us over by beating West Coast at Optus, sending us to WA instead?
Mad if they don’t and even with them gone, we’ll still play exactly the same way.
It won’t make any difference to us. We are just making up numbers. Maybe we’ll become the Western Bombers? Be the only chance we’ll have of a new influx of players and we might win more than four games in a row.
This year was gonna be the year like every year hasn’t been.
McKenna must be smashing his head against a brick wall. In all seriousness, he had to one week off, while still doing fitness work with equipment he had delivered, and they are saying they are being cautious with him? Nonsense. He was 100% before ISO and what has happened since then to change it? ■■■■ house decision.
Justin Crowe was whacked for how managed injured players. Them being conservative first with Raz and now McKenna is fine with me.
Risks in this case do not outweigh the rewards
Soft tissue injuries have been more prevalent across the league with this affected season. He has been even more affected than most and had no continuity of training/match play. You can’t attain an intensity level expected at AFL level on a treadmill in your hotel room
Better to get the work into him and make sure ready to go for a game type intensity than lose him for a month twanging a string when he is so important to us.
I get the issue with injures in disjointed season and I was all for being cautious with Fantasia when he came back, but Conor was ready for AFL matches 2 weeks ago and missed what, 2/3 sessions and has had a full week of training this week. Just frustrating as I’m sure he thinks he’s fully ready.
The way our fwd line taller players will be structured and the Pies defensive personnel could end up working in our favour especially if it’s wet.
CHF Smack vs Moore
FF Stringer vs Roughead
3rd tall Laverde vs Scharenberg
If Smack pushes up ground as he has been will be dragging Moore with him.
Obviously Roughead will have Stringer’s measure overhead but not on the lead and certainly not at ground level. Ball should be on the deck a lot.
Jeremy Howe is a huge loss for them, stops so many opposition attacks and is a beautiful distributor on the counter. Scharenberg whilst a good player not even remotely at his level. And you’d think Lav could still have an impact on him.
But firstly got to get it into our fwd line far more which will be the biggest task against a formidable Pies outfit. Midfield has to fkn lift big time compared to last week in winning footy themselves & also limiting them.
No one gave us a chance in that late season game in 2019 and we almost got up. Can we do it this time?
Well gives us every chance of winning because knowing Essington they’ll prove me wrong because I give us zero chance in winning tonight . I actually think it might derail our season this game and start the media in a frenzy questioning again if Woosha should be sacked. Especially if Parish doesn’t play on ball. If McKenna is fit to play should have brought him in, he lack match fitness but I’m sure he could have played the game out, bit rusty perhaps but still too valuable to leave out with his talent and run n carry. Glad TBC isn’t in but ideally should retire now we have Philips and Draper now fit to start playing. Zaka well he is in the leadership group guess they don’t want to pay out his contract just yet. He just isn’t up to it anymore. Orazio and Tippa both need to perform this game or they get dropped, Hibberd in I like, Clarke perhaps not this game but Blues he would have nullified Cripps again, Langford was serviceable in that game but certainly no match for Cripps, which raises questions around matchups
Good news is that the rain is largely contracting to during the daylight hours and we may get through tonight without any. Probably still a bit greasy under footy, especially if we get the ~5-10mm forecast.
