Ess v. Saints Post game

First game I’ve watched this year. We won because we had far more players with sensible haircuts IMO.

The media do love a little cheeky dig, edge indeed.

Terrible first half, couldn’t watch it. Second half, ground it out for a remarkable win. I am more than happy to eat my words on Jones if he can keep that up. He was very good today.

Sh*t. If it’s going to be that sort of party I’m gonna stick my ■■■■ in the mashed potatoes.

Enjoy the win

I didn’t watch the game but a mate said it was not about quality and more about quantity. Clearly Ross doesn’t rate him either to let him off the leash and not care.

So much for 1-6 you dogs

He was not good.

he may be back next week if Durham is out

Ended up being one of the best games Jones has played for the club imo

I was a nervous wreck in that last quarter. I’m still shaking.

Whenever you start to doubt how much it actually means to you, you tend to find out pretty quickly in desperately close matches like this. Amazing :raised_hands:

I was wrong I thought that with he’s lack of size it might be lights out on he’s career but he was impressive today and if keeps at that level and puts a bit more size on there is hope

Ridley is back next week

If he wasn’t marking he was contesting and setting up goals for others.

That’s what we want Jonesy things like that is what will keep you in the side

So happy, so good to be on the winning side of a close one!

Good win albeit with a lot of skill errors.

Took us a half but it was excellent to see us strangle the Aints with excellent defensive pressure.

We have a couple of forwards that don’t need to touch the ball much to make the opposition pay.

We continued the midfield dominance of the first two weeks which means we are one the right track there.

After today no one can knock the four players we brought in by trade. All of them have played well this season.

Great win but lots to work on. The other positive is we have players like Ridley, Reid and Setters to come back.

McGrath’s decision making was putrid early on. I am not sure he’s much of a defender and got taken advantage of.

Durham and Duursma are now big losses. Hope they recover quickly.

Jones did fantastic until his back flared up. Poor dude can’t get a break. He stopped crashing packs as effectively after that.

Martin was fine except he doesn’t have the build to be effective both ways yet. I think while he was passable today we need to move him to the wing.

Kelly and Heppell were positives. Stringer found his distance again which is great. Enough quality contribution from everyone else. Also great pressure from our rucks and Merrett.

Onto next week! We won more than half that match & with Ridley in that backline I think the first quarter fallout isn’t as bad. More positives than negatives. We’re getting there.
