Anyway back to the game. The line in the sand game gets a lot of attention but with the benefit of hindsight the game that signalled the arrival of Essington was Rd 3 2005. Rob walls has tipped us to win the flag, I was very lid off, and on a very wet day at the g the Hawks almost ran us down in the last but we snuck home by a point. It was a terrible display by us, listless, disinterested, stupid mistakes. Everything we would come to know and love over the next 13 years. Iirc we didn’t beat the Hawks again until 2009
