Essendon & Hawthorn - Line in the sand

Heard about it last night, and came on here to read it myself. But now I’m the one posting it. Lift your game slackers. Oh and where are the training observers?

Probably won’t mean much, look who is quoted and it won’t matter if they don’t address whatever mental block they are having within games. Will fire them up for a few minutes and then more of the same.

Yep. But I’ll give it halfway through the first quarter. After Joe has kicked 3 behinds and 1 OOB.

It’s not just about turning up with super intensity. It’s also about having strategies/match ups to negate their key players. And strategies for our key players to get the advantage. Don’t remember too many recent games where we’ve come away and been impressed by a specific match up standing out. Last year where McGrath was on Betts is the obvious one for me.

Too much reflecting, not enough projecting.

2004 is ancient history. Time to start looking forward.

Probably., but we dont really see them turn up eith super intensity to know if its that or tactics.

Case in point how many tackles of ours actually stick ?
And or restrict an opposition player getting the ball out.

We don’t tackle with intent and purpose to restrict the ball getting out.
They just tackle cos tackling proves defensive effort supposedly.

Another bug bear is when 3 players follow the ball to lay a tackle, and the opposition just shoot it around and back to the opposition player that if they’d just followed their man, and went 1 on 1 , wouldnt be free.

Saad to follow Breust around like a bad smell all day. McKenna to free wheel from half back. McGrath into the middle. We can win this.

So, you know we keep the game plan all secret. Then we practice being brutal 4 days ahead of the actual game.
Like when the ball is bounced on Saturday, Hawthorn are going to be so surprised when we play close and lay some tackles ?

Amen.

nuke this thread, the thread title alone is embarrassing enough.

Hey, folk are saying our season is over. BS.
It might be but we are only 1 win out of the 8, 2 wins out of the top 4, with 16 games to go.

Its going to take hard work, and we need to win this game, but it is winnable and we can still play finals.

I am not a happy clapper and I am not happy with how we are playing, but it can be turned around. What is important is that we are in top form at the end of the year. That’s 4 months away.

So let me get this straight. David King reckons that because we had one ‘don’t forget your mouth-guard’ type training session that things will be all OK now. Rightio.

Did we have a hardcore skills session after it?

Like in fifa 17/18 you train the skill til you pass, and get an a or b or s or d or f
3/4s of the team is still training haha

Hit targets, don’t turn the ball over - you won’t have to be second to every second contest.

Go the knuckle!

See that’s why you’re not a happy clapper. We don’t need to win this game, and we can still make finals. Just to put it in what I call “clapperspective”…
-Last year Joe turned it around after a poor performance against the Ds
-We’re getting back some aggro with Connor
-We may get back some speed with Raz
-Saad, Smith and Stringer have all shown something
-We are playing some kids
-Car*ton have had their worst start ever, and they have a very long history

This is the game. This is the ONE. We’re down on form, had horrible moments of poor physical efforts and horrendous skills and we’re against one of our fiercest enemies.
I’m expecting a loss, but ■■■■ me if we go down without going all in for the ball and showing some physical aggression I’ll be done with this group. Lift lads!!!

If this your last hoorah? Fingers and toes all crossed.

They asked Sheedy on the footy show what he would do for Saturday’s game “I’d go to war”

Sheeds would go the biff no doubt about it.

Apparently Sheeds would put a name on the whiteboard so players would know who shouldn’t be allowed to walk off the field.

Who would he target tomorrow?! Mitchell?! Sicily?
