Essendon's List Cloggers

Nice to see you’re being realistic (given that Rowan has only recently said how happy he is at St Kilda).

We haven’t sucked becuase Hind is a jobber.

We’ve sucked because Sheil, Heppel and which ever forward you want to pick where not Dangerfield, Selwood and Hawkins.

I don’t care what he says. You asked for a name so I gave you a ruckman who is out of contract and he’s one. I’d take a meat and potatoes ruckman who can tap it to our rovers and can get around the ground.

We have Bryan as well who needs AFL time.

A grasp on reality is very tenuous for some.

I wouldn’t get rid of all of them…some just should be VFL-fixtures, depth only.

But I’d like about 6 or 7 list spots available for Dodoro to keep his ■■■■■■■ hands off.

Yes, absolutely.
This list is going nowhere

Talking about reality do you think players will be happy to remain on our list just to plod along in the VFL?! All of our players will have ambitions of playing AFL…the ones that can’t make it will leave or be delisted.

So this Blitzer is not a thread list clogger?

That’s what I have been saying for years about why the players are so complacent about being “list cloggers”: all they need to do is not be in the 3 or 4 worst players on the list. There will always be delistings of one or two retiring players as well aa low draft pick or two who never got a game, so that means the ordinary players who abound on our list will be kept on until they come to retirement.

A classic example is Bolton: he played stayed on the list for 10 years and got life membership despite playing only one or two serviceable games (tagging Goodes).

not with that attitude

Never ever did I think I’d see a post where laverde was described as an ornament to the game

I would take Pittonet right now over Draper and Goldy that’s how fckd our rucks are

I have given up on:

  • Guelfi
  • Kelly
  • Heppell
  • Menzie
  • Goldstein
  • Setterfield
  • Shiel
  • Stringer
  • Laverde
  • Hind
  • Hunter
  • Baldwin
  • Wanganeen

Laverde, Hind and Setterfield can be role players next year. Rest need to be delisted or traded.

  • Jones
  • Bryan
  • Reid
  • A Davey
  • J Davey

These guys are on the edge and should get next year before a call is made. I want the coaches to try Bryan as a KPD. Jones does not ever play a 4 quarter game, but done ok on the wing.

  • Tsatas
  • Hobbs
  • Perkins
  • Cox

Have to give them a couple more years. Cox needs to be tried forward, as he has kicked 3 goals now in two games. Perkins just needs to be played forward, full stop.

The players are perfectly capable talent wise, they are just mental basket cases.

Langford, McGrath, Redman are three examples, mentally completely fried but clearly talented.

McKay has fitted into the leagues least confident backline scarily well.

That first list is a lot of players to delist/trade in one go we will be drafting players with picks into the 70’s and 100’s with that many gone

My list of rubbish/overated players taking the club nowhere and actually disrupting the cultural change driven by Merrett, Caldwell, Durham etc

In order:

  1. McGrath - No. 1 draft pick ironically the No. 1 dumbest turnover merchant in the squad possibly AFL. Looking forward to seeing him smiling on the bench when getting beaten, bouncing the ball 1 millisecond after get it then literally running himself in to trouble over and over again. 6 more years
  2. Draper - Would be No. 1 at most clubs but stiff competition in this team. Equally dumb player. Actually an ok ruckmen, brings energy but he isn’t getting any better and he hurts the team with missed goals etc. Trade
  3. Stringer - Never fit enough to play out a season and doesn’t actually win that many games. As brilliant as any player in the comp every now and then but at the end of his career. Delist
  4. Heppell - Hanging around like a bad smell now. That stupid look he has on his face looking confused when he gives away a free kick is actually embarrassing. Delist

I’d be putting Guelfi, Redman and Wight on notice as well. All best 22 and playing crap at the moment.

I’d be keeping stringer, but if we’re going after zuhaar offer stringer 1 year on average money.

Hard to disagree with the majority of that list except Hunter, our forward line is laughable and only Caddy has any real improvement in him.
Bold call- If he’s retained and plays a full season he’ll be our top goal scorer

In the sense of something that looks good but serves no practical purpose, I can only assume.

A bunch of our “good” players aren’t actually that good. Most players on our list seem to have at least 1 easily exploited glaring weakness. Some of our “good” players have more than one
