TBF I don’t think hardly any side would’ve been scared to face them in the knockouts. They have next to zero attacking desire and just are bereft of ideas on how to score.

The EURO 2016 sqaud was worse.
Relying on Eder & Zaza + Emannuele Giacherini in the midfield was truly vile
2016 squad would wipe the floor with these scrubbers.
Yeah they weren’t great but they scored goals and picked apart Spain in the quarters and with a bit of luck should’ve beaten the Krauts in the semis

Haven’t seen an Italian team perform this badly since the 2010 WC. The 2016 squad was absolute trash yet Conte had them performing like a fine oiled machine that dismantled Spain, Belgium and then lost on Pens to Germany.
He had spuds like Gaccherini looking like prime Pirlo.
This was a very week squad but to get pulled apart the way they did in pretty much every game bar the Albania game, the coach has gotta take the blame for that
