Is he elevated yet?
Does anyone know if we have room in our salary cap to elevate McKernan? Although if the news is true about Colyer it may be a moot point.
If we don’t have enough wiggle room in the cap to pay a guy for 12 games at rookie wages, we’re sailing way too close to the wind.

SMack has been nominated for mark of the year. You can vote for him here https://markoftheyear.afl.com.au/vote/round/21
Put TBC on the LTI so as to elevate McKenna > Luck of the Irish.Smack + Conor ready to rumble against the unsociables.
I know you are sort of joking, but:
We desperately need players who can kick goals. These guys both can. But its probably just a little early for Conor. Make no mistake. Conor is being watched and fast tracked. He is incredibly agile and is a fast sprinter, with very good acceleration. But atm his salary as a cat. B rookie is outside the cap. There would have to be cap space available to elevate him, so they probably would not elevate him until next year. imo.
I’d like him to get at least another game or two (in a row) before a line is put through his name, but not sure he’ll be afforded that opportunity.
Will be interesting to see which of him or Michael makes way for Leuey, should he return this week.
If it’s Smack, think we can safely say that the decision has already been made.
His forward work in the first half was terrible. Standing 70m from the kicker and not moving it looked like he didn’t even want the ball. I was a big fan last yr, but he is a guy that has no real position on the ground.
He is what he is at this stage. Or perhaps more to the point he isn’t what he isn’t.
He isn’t a tap ruckman and he isn’t a forward. He’s a perfectly functional ruckman who will try his guts out in the ruck and has phenomenal around the ground ability for a ruck. I’m more than happy to keep him around as back up for Leuey, but time to stop with him playing forward.
Still cannot get over him handballing it to a Saint player coming out of that contest.
On what grounds would the AFL reject such a request*
*other than a conspiracy
April 14 "David will have a bone block and screws inserted into the shoulder, and we could expect to see him back playing as soon as twelve weeks." (emphasis added) - http://www.essendonfc.com.au/news/2015-04-14/myers-to-undergo-surgery O'Maera did his knee, had normal surgery, and didn't get put on the LTI for another two weeks. Jackson Paine was confirmed out for the season with an ankle injury, but didn't get added to the LTI for a month. Nathan Grima was three weeks into his recovery from a four month recovery time for back surgery before he got put on the LTI. It happens all the time, presumably for mysterious and important reasons that we mere fans will never be allowed to understand, and not just because the admin at clubs is a bit lackadaisical. The club needs both the players’ and AFL’s permission to move that player to the LTI list.
Club cannot do it unilaterally.
Makes sense.

So much faith being put in McKernan. Wonder how long it will take people to turn on himWon’t take long at all.
Being hyped as the answer to all our problems. A taller Dangerfield, if you like.
With that in mind, 2 or 3 average games should be all it takes for this place to turn on him.
He could’ve at least been the answer to the ruck problem. There’s no good excuse or reason for not placing Myers on the LTI list.
Now what is more likely?
That being true, & you knowing as much or more of whats happening within the club than they do, and your injury management knowledge is far superior?
Or there actually is a very good reason, & you are not smart enough to work out what that might have been?
I can think of a couple of possibilities, and I’m sure there’s more.
Why do people assume that our doctors & staff are idiots, rather than that they are?
If you do the former, there’s a good chance you’re the latter.
So Myers was going to be back within 8 weeks of having shoulder surgery? He was never going to be and therefore should have been placed on the LTI list. 101 of list management I would think. You aren’t required to elevate a rookie but at least you have the option. Therefore you don’t end up with the scenario we have found ourselves in the last two weeks where Smack continues to be a form player yet due to poor administration we can’t play him in the ones.
Looking forward to the re-elevation of Smack come round 11.
We played better when he was in the middle.thought Michael struggled.
Smacks first half was average, thought he really stood up in the 2nd half.
Looks a completely different player in the AFL compared to the VFL. Unfortunately looks to be one who is too good for VFL but average at AFL level.
How do we fit him in though presuming Jake gets up next week?
VFL player.
Didnt think he looked like he was 100% right.
Struggled at times to keep pace with play, make timely changes with Michael & generally find space.
But as always he threw himself about & showed good intent in contests.
Would keep him on List for next year before 10-15 others.
Smack took a particularly gutsy pack mark in the third qtr which led to probably our best ball movement of the night for a goal.He smashed a pack and took the grab between half back and wing on the interchange side of the ground, which he dished off an extremely quick handball to Raz running past, whom then carried it through the centre wing and passed to Tippa who took a brilliantly contested mark of which he quickly played on with a perfectly weighted long kick from the 50 mtr fwd arc over the back to JoeyD for a goal.
If he could do more of this type of stuff he’d be an extremely valuable contributor to the side but unfortunately, these type of efforts are few and far between for him despite his best efforts.
His inconsistent efforts within a game is what I feel holds him back from becoming a regular AFL player unfortunately.
Yep. Great call
