JOEDAN and smack forward are a good prospect next year, and will take some stopping. Smacks marks yesterday were impressive.
We need to recruit a ruckman so he doesn’t get a flogging in this role. He’s not quite big enough for mine. Adds real value.
He is a quality second ruckman forward. Really compliments JoeD being a more aggressive player.
I honestly think he could become a top line player if we keep rewarding his good performances and he gets the confidence. He has always had the tools since he was drafted.
What I love about him when he’s in the ruck, is that he gets down and dirty to not only tap the ball, but to gain possession as well. Plays like an extra mid (ala Blicavs).
So many times he’d go in 2nd effort and get the ball. Completely dominated Smith.
Like the idea of having him 2nd tall up fwd where he spends about 30% in ruck. Just need to find a no.1 ruck!!

There is every chance that Belly and Smack could be that combination… Pity we didn’t get a chance to see it
The one game we did - ironically when Carlisle was out - was arguably one of our better ruck games for the season. It was probably the worst game Goldstein played all year. Smack looked extremely good early until the maggots didn’t pay him a mark in the goal square. He tired as the game went on but it was a combination that certainly looked to be something that could work.
Please. The doc wouldn’t be letting him run around if there was an issue, and the selection committee wouldn’t pick him if we wasn’t 100% with a playable niggle.
It's like the club thinks definite set in stone injury recovery plans and schedules are the thing of ignorant fan fantasy that morons whinge about with the benefit of hindsight.
The second Myers’ surgery was booked in he should have been placed on the LTI. It’s as simple as that. Hocking too.
There is probably 1 bloke responsible for that absolute ■■■■■■■■■■■ and it’s not Hird.
So much faith being put in McKernan. Wonder how long it will take people to turn on him
Won’t take long at all.
Being hyped as the answer to all our problems. A taller Dangerfield, if you like.
With that in mind, 2 or 3 average games should be all it takes for this place to turn on him.
He could’ve at least been the answer to the ruck problem. There’s no good excuse or reason for not placing Myers on the LTI list.
Now what is more likely?
That being true, & you knowing as much or more of whats happening within the club than they do, and your injury management knowledge is far superior?
Or there actually is a very good reason, & you are not smart enough to work out what that might have been?
I can think of a couple of possibilities, and I’m sure there’s more.
Why do people assume that our doctors & staff are idiots, rather than that they are?
If you do the former, there’s a good chance you’re the latter.
So Myers was going to be back within 8 weeks of having shoulder surgery? He was never going to be and therefore should have been placed on the LTI list. 101 of list management I would think. You aren’t required to elevate a rookie but at least you have the option. Therefore you don’t end up with the scenario we have found ourselves in the last two weeks where Smack continues to be a form player yet due to poor administration we can’t play him in the ones.
Looking forward to the re-elevation of Smack come round 11.
AFL 101 EFC, do not do anything unless you asking us first.

Does anyone know if we have room in our salary cap to elevate McKernan? Although if the news is true about Colyer it may be a moot point.
If we don’t have enough wiggle room in the cap to pay a guy for 12 games at rookie wages, we’re sailing way too close to the wind.
You are right in that it would be a mark of sailing too close to the wind, but I know it was a while before they resolved Chappy’s wages, which could have pushed them close to the edge and the only constraint on a mid season elevation is being able to afford the wage rise from rookie listed player to first year player, 3rd round pick. I also wonder if the fact McKernan isn’t a first year player will make him more expensive than that.
