F1 2025 Dude Where’s My osCar

Just finished watching the Kayo mini. Stupid move by Oscar, but in the end if you finished in the top three in those conditions, it was a bloody good job.

Piastri is a dumbass. His day could have ended there and then had Max smashed into the back of him.

10 seconds was incredibly harsh. They could have given 5 seconds and we would have had an incredible finish. And it would have been a more justifiable decision.

I get the disappointment for Oscar’s penalty, but I don’t see anything wrong with Lando enjoying the win. Motor sport being what it is, enough times drivers will win due to another driver’s misfortune. Be it of their own doing or bad luck. Swing and roundabouts (actually, roundabouts on a F1 track could make it fun).

As for the race, got love how rain makes things interesting.

So it’s a 3 week break until we’re back in Belgium with a sprint weekend.

Until then there’s the Tour de France.

My son thinks the rules for that mean that it is always a 10 second penalty and that they couldn’t give less. I have zero idea.

Pity there is no good AFL on

I have to sit with Pastry’s boneheaded mistake for three weeks? Then to top it off, another superfluous sprint? Bah.

Nah they could have decided to not even give a penalty or just a 5 second penalty. They did dock him 2 license points for the incident which seems a little heavy handed also.

Oscar ■■■■■■ up and copped the right punishment. I get what he was doing, he just executed it incorrectly.

I’m more annoyed at the first safety car that cost him his 13 second lead. I’d have thought they could have gone to Virtual Safety Car first instead. That would have safely slowed all the cars, done a better job of displacing the water from the racing line, and everyone’s gaps would have been maintained. Then if conditions worsened, go to full safety car.

Funny though that it was only Max who overshot Oscar. No one else overshot and went past any other car down the field. Can’t be braking too hard if no one else had an issue.

Oscar went from over 200 Kph to 50 Kph in a blink of the eye with water spraying everywhere, as annoying as the penalty was it’s certainly not Max’s fault.

Not saying that, just that no one else in the field had issues braking when Oscar did. Like in traffic.

Actually Hulkenberg told Pastry in the cool down room that his sudden braking caused issues all the way down the grid.

I’d love to see the side on shot because watching it live it certainly didn’t look like he was travelling at over 200kph. I understand there has to be some penalty but if he ‘was’ driving at over 200 during a safety car in the wet, I wouldn’t be driving up his ar$e. These tactics under a safety car happen every race

But didn’t he still have a 3 second lead after being docked 10?

There is nuance to it because the lights went out on the safety car almost as he accelerated, Max may have thought he was going early. It’s unfortunate but to blame Max is crazy.

Oscar done a similar thing on the first safety car restart and I thought to myself he might have been in trouble for that but they didnt even note it. It wasn’t wet on the first safety car restart so that might have played a part in why the stewards didnt note it.

Good video.

I reckon in dry weather with full visibility Oscar would have got away with it. But you’ve got to take the conditions into account.

max shouldn’t have taken off as if it was dry and he was the leader
