Because Russell is going to get a penalty for the first incident
He said it well after the safety car and was calling it unfortunate because he was barracking hard for Norris
Absolutely no certainty there
And if your sure hes getting a penalty then theres no reason to give the position, there wasnt risk of anything max was comfortably ahead
Not saying I agree with them but I think that was the RB logic. Possibly didn’t want a scrap in the final stages but it was bizarre but I guess that’s why they are on the big bucks ![]()
Just been watching the race.
Why was Max not black flagged? That was as deliberate as you can make it.
Can you imagine a back marker or rookie trying to take out a top driver, and only getting a 10 second penalty.
Sad to see a great driver stoop this low. He’s cooked.
Gutless stewards
Imagine Yuki did that. Or any driver from one of the middle or lower teams.
Black flag every day of the week.
Like the AFL and star players (or Geelong players) absolutely nothing will happen.
There is no problem with wanting a close race. He by far lavished the most praise on Piastri’s driving.
Can someone explain why Max had to go on hard tyres? Is that all he had left, or did his team screw up?
All he had available
Calling Sky commentary unbiased towards British drivers is the hottest of hot takes.
Yeah I thought he was good.
Only set left for him, they have burned the rest. So no choice, but still a screw up.
I had the sound down on this one, but if one of them said unfortunately Piastri is driving too well (paraphrasing what someone posted) then that totally wouldn’t surprise.
A good 60% of the coverage is how close Norris, Russell and Hamilton are, and there’s this weird expectation that Hamilton can make up mad gaps just because.
One of the drivers called them out on it. Maybe two years ago?
It’s very definitely a thing.
Why pit him then? His tyres weren’t that old and he’d be starting with front position.
Sky in general? Hell no they’re biased. Rosburg? I don’t think he gives a stuff. He just wants to see great racing and contests.
I thought Nico was great. Really enjoyed it. I heard the “unfortunately” line and it did give me a jolt but I think he really just wanted an exciting race. It was genuinely coming from a place of entertainment, not because he wanted Norris to win.
The commentary team were quite critical of Hamilton during the race and were advocating for Ferrari to let LeClerc pass sooner.
They are undoubtedly biased. I just didn’t think this weekend was a particular egregious example. Thought it was all very fair and balanced last night and Nico is a breath of fresh air.
Yes, Sky in general.
It would be a little weird if Rosburg felt that way, but perhaps it’s infectious.
It wasnt even unfortunately he is driving too well, it was unfortunately he has a gap to Norris
And he spent the whole race telling us how unfortunate it is for lewis that ferrari is no good (ignoring his team mate being rapid)
Some of the info he gives is great but mostly he is just explaining why the british drivers are better than everyone finishing ahead of them
Along with the rest of the comms
