Maybe follow the thread back then since I never said Sky was unbiased. I said Rosberg was a good commentator and added heaps to the call.
Why does blitz keep replying the wrong posts lately?
Hmmm.
Max demanded to come in for new tyres but the team should have overruled him
You sure about that?
Weird that straight after the stop he was asking why did we pit if we only have hard left
I didnt see/hear any radio from him prior to the stop but i may have missed it
He demanded to come in as he said new tyres would make the difference but I’m guessing the team didn’t inform him or didn’t know themselves until too late that the only option was hards. Whatever the case is was a monumental stuff up
Ah. So it was a mixed bag screw up.
They may not have had time to tell him / discuss they only had hard. Not sure how close to the pits the lead cars were when the SC was called. From the coverage it seemed like Piastri was in the pits almost immediately after the SC.
I think this was the case. Happened very quickly and maybe they panicked a bit when they saw both McLarens pit together and just followed the leader
You would surely think all teams should have someone with the responsibility at all times of knowing “what we’d do if there was a safety car now”.
If they hadn’t pitted him he would have had the lead. Given his driving skills he may have been able to defend the lead against the McLarens over the 6 laps post safety. Also his softs he was using weren’t that many laps older than the used softs the McLarens put on in the safety car pit stop.
Edit - saw that Aceman has said it was Max’s call to pit for new tyres. If that’s the case - he got what he deserved. Keeping him out there may have resulted in a win rather than a melt down impacted 10th.
“It felt very deliberate, to be honest,” Russell said on Sunday evening. “It’s a bit of a shame because Max is clearly one of the best drivers in the world, but maneuvers like that are just totally unnecessary and sort of lets him down. It’s a shame for all the young kids looking up, aspiring to be Formula 1 drivers.”
As has been the case time and time again in his storied career, Verstappen’s race craft will be a major talking point in the buildup to the Canadian Grand Prix. His response to the Sky Sports question and his quip when told about Russell’s comments about his move being a bad example for kids watching F1 – “I’ll bring some tissues next time” – gave insight into how he will treat that focus on his race craft.
“Oh my god,” gasped third-placed Charles Leclerc as the clip of Verstappen’s incident with Russell unfolded.
Championship leader and race winner Oscar Piastri simply said, “Yikes.”
Runner-up Lando Norris quipped that he had done that before, albeit “on Mario Kart.”
For those that were following this sport pre-Drive to Survive, when was the last time that a drivers championship was being primarily fought between two teammates (such is the dominance of one team). Feels quite rare?
Rosberg, Hamilton
Yes Russell very politely up ending the bucket on Max.
It’s interesting to see how polished the F1 drivers are, and they’re scripted, stage managed and ushered in to the very second. But they do tend to speak their mind (without being to harsh on each other) and they do feel very chummy with each other. But seems like they are happy to tighten the screws in this bloke.
I can see a bit of an AFL style clamp down on these sorts of comments soon enough.
Apparently Max has only 1 point left before being suspended for a race and that is why they did not come down him heavier than a 10 second penalty.
That’s correct although he gets some back after the next two races.
On top of the penalty, stewards handed Verstappen three penalty points on his super license – which leaves the Dutchman one point away from a race ban.
Verstappen has 11 points on his super license in total, with F1’s rules stating that 12 in a 12-month period will result in a single-race suspension.
Two of Verstappen’s 11 points will expire when they become 12 months old on June 30, meaning Verstappen must avoid any penalties over the next two races in Canada and Austria in order to gain extra breathing room for the rest of the season.
I feel the Rosberg “unfortunately” comment is being taken out of context.
Crofty was being the typical broadcaster attempting to artificially hype up drama/keep interest up for the viewer. Said something about Nando catching Pastry in a few laps based on pace, so we’re set for a dramatic finish.
Rosberg then dumped cold water all over it with reality. It wasn’t an “unfortunately oscar is going to win” comment, it was an “unfortunately I must correct your delusion” comment.
That’s how I took it listening live.
I love Max. So entertaining to listen too on the team radio. Everyone else is boring. Regardless of facts, he sticks to his guns.
My favourite since Senna. He will never admit fault and if you are a Max fan you just gloss over his faults. I mean who does George think he is getting in Max’s way like that.
