The race was never in doubt. Piastri drove a controlled race and I feel, he always had more up his sleeve if needed.

He’s also an idiot. When the first safety car was out he kept going on about how it would help LeClerc. Idiot didn’t realise it was the opposite.

To be fair, they missed the chance to be the first 1-2 finish there since about 1982, and missed a chunk of constructors points.
He seemed pretty happy about Piasti’s win.
Either way, though, massive shame. Piastri had a good race but I think it was clear Norris was significantly quicker in the race. 44 points is a massive gap to overtake unless Piastri gets a DNF as well

Piastri controlled the race and looked after his tires. He wasn’t going to let the undercut be an option this time out.

Guardian write up is several paragraphs about disconsolate Lando sitting alone on the dunes followed by disconsolate Lewis farking up his red sponsor float, followed by brief mention of the composed, cold Piastri finishing the race in front and then the others who were just behind him who also finished the race.

Great that Oscar seemed genuinely happy for him and found time to praise him as the comms were too busy crying over Lando

"Norris had looked stronger than Piastri for much of the weekend, having also taken victory at the Zandvoort Circuit 12 months ago, but crucially missed out on pole position by 0.012s.
Despite having to chase his team mate, Norris often looked the quicker of the two in the race but believed being able to overtake for the lead would have been incredibly difficult."

As for Lando, sure it’s disappointing to have your race end by mechanical failure (ditto by having another driver run into you… gotta feel for Leclerc), but these things happen. Pity the commentators allow their parochialism to overtake commonsense.

The most impressive thing about last night was after copping a 10s penalty last time he led a rolling restart he had to go through THREE of them last night in a single race and managed them all perfectly. Great growth and maturity.
