Next year i want to play them twice so if we lose one we get another chance at revenge a few weeks later

Anoying that we have to wait the next year to seek revenge

bro youā€™re already thinking about losing to them in a game next year

Had a look at their BF board. A lot seem to think Cripps and Doc are making waves as well. FC are imploding nicely.

They have won the last 3 if we cant beat them now at thier lowest then what hope do we have for future games.

yep , youā€™d expect them to come out really hard - so we need to prepared for it, adsorb it, and be on the offensive ourselves from the start. A few quick goals by us is a good way to deflate them. Either way we need to settle down and play our game and keep our intensity up all game - which should be the case for all our games.

Letā€™s be honest. If the rumour was about a divide in the EFC locker room thereā€™d be no shortage of completely baseless and uninformed speculation as to the identities on this forum.

Fark Carlton

If anyone thinks it canā€™t get any worse for Carlton, just imagine the absolute shitstorm that club will endure if we get a hold of them on Sunday night. That in itself should be motivation. If you sense weakness you need to be ruthless.

Any chance we kick the first 5 goals and the fark carlton players start punching on with each other?

No it doesnā€™t. Instability off the field always translates to problems on the field. Given that this appears to be a divided playing list it is a recipe for disaster.

Docherty is the chief instigator from what Iā€™ve heard.
Isnā€™t happy with a few of the money bag players not pulling their weight and slackening off at training, poor standards etc. obviously he has worked his way back after some serious injuries/health problems and feels some are just coasting along and collecting a pay cheque

Docherty will no doubt play his blinder for the year against us, with no attention given to him and he will have 30+ disposals.

The bloke gets 25-30 every week and is a very, very good player so yeah Iā€™d imagine he will get up around the 30 possession mark.
But Fark Carlton anyway

Spot on - he is basically BOG when we played them because we refused to man him up.

We have looked tired the last 2 weeks - perhaps let down after a massive Dreamtime game. We need to recover our energy.

Secondly, I feel we have lost our defensive edge the last weeks and the 2 worst teams in the cost have been worked out the trick is to quickly, if imperfectly, transition out of the F50. If Carlton start to use Saad to do this, we will be in trouble as Curnow and McKay will be easily fed. They just need to kick 1-2 goals early and their confidence will return,.

Again, against the two bottom sides the last two weeks we have had the worst performed ā€œbookendsā€ in Zerk-Thatcher and Weideman in the competition. Going with them again in those roles is insanity (i.e. doing the the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome).

What I think we need to do:

  1. Lock down on Docherty and donā€™t let him free wheel between the arcā€¦
  2. Replace Zerk-Thatcher with Nik Cox (who could not possibly do worse) and Weideman with Wright (who is ready).
  3. Ensure Guelfi plays tightly on Saad so he doesnā€™t quickly transition out of our F50.

Thereā€™s other things too - like our perennial weakness around contested possession courtesy of 20+ years of Dodoroā€™s recruiting philosophy - that are not easily fixed. We will need to do what we did against Richmond and play a keepings off game. And I expect Ed Curnow to play on Merrett so we need to give him a hard time to free up Merrett.

So, changes for mine:

  • Cox in for Zerk
  • Wright in for Weideman
  • Tsatas to debut in place of an injured Shiel
  • Walla sub to replace Tsatas at 3QT
Note: Dā€™Ambosio will be very unlucky in this selection scenario but he would be next in.

Iā€™d like to see Wright and Weideman in the forward line together.

Iā€™ve liked Guelfi as the small pressure forward. He provides great pressure and finds ways to kick goals. Walla needs to play more VFL to build fitness. I agree Zerk is a weak link but I donā€™t think replacing him with Cox is the answer. Maybe Baldwin.
