Fark carlton (Part 1)

Yesterday as was inevitable, blood was spilt in the water at Carlton.
Today the reef sharks of the media and notably many Carlton “names” have joined the feeding frenzy tearing the whole carcase of Carlton apart.

But SOS seems to have avoided serious scrutiny at this point. He is the architect of the demise of Carlton over the last 3-4 years . Is he teflon ? How does he avoid the chop ?

The crazy thing is Bolton was talking about the fantastically talented list they have at his joint presser . But Carlton fans are listing about ten players currently in their “best 22” who they say are not up to AFL standard.

Thats why they are currently 18th

Weitering pick 1 been ok. seemed dto be better when debuted and development gone backwards, lost confidence
McKay pick 10
Curnow pick 12
Cunningham 23
Silvagni 53

could argue he smashed it out of the park first year. but had good picks as traded players of value.

Henderson for cats 2016 first round pick = eventually tuned into mcKay = win
Tom Bell + 41 for 21 + 60
Menzel for Kerridge + 28
Yarran for pick 19 - cunningham
pick 8 + spuds from gws for 2016 cats first round plus other later picks for GWS points.
20+21 for pick 11 dogs + 2016 third round pick

2016 (traded Zach Tuohy) Cats 2017 first round but lost 2017 second round
6 Petrevski-seton - been good
27 Zac Fisher - ok
43 macreadie - had promise
59 Cam Polson

2017 traded Gibbs for 10 +16 and swapped future second rounders
3 Paddy Dow - jury out may come good.
10 Lochie O’Brien -havent heard of him
30 Tom De Konig

Just think SOS has been good at earlt KPP picks. not as good with mids, but generally good enough with early picks, but hasnt found any good players from later int he draft which is a worry with all the assistance afl gave them with access to mature players etc.

If he cleans up his ball use a bit, he’ll be an absolute superstar. He has all the attributes to be a top 5 midfielder in the AFL.

Edit: Think Dyson Heppell size, and nous around the contest, but with absolute elite breakaway speed.

What they haven’t done well at all is pick up later picks with bigger, stronger bodies and develop them - e.g. Hooker was a 50’s pick, Ambrose pre-season/rookie pick, Bellchambers pre-season pick, Guelfi pick 70s/80s, Dylan Clarke pick 60s, Conor McKenna international rookie.

SOS & the Carlton recruiting team has failed dismally in this regard - not hard, with all the testing these days, to get top picks right.

But it’s the late-very late picks that really separate the best from the rest. Dodoro may have his critics but he, Merve Keane and the recruiting have done a very, very good job on this point given the Saga robbed us of top picks and being a destination club.

How’s the arrogance of Judd. The guy thinks he’s a god. Looks like the type of prick that has not once taken responsibility for a mistake in his life.

Hope he, SOS and their wog Pres stick fat and continue to be as pathetic as they are.

We of course have our own issues but I feel we all underplay just how decimated our club was between Feb 2013 and 2017 when the returning players were re- integrated.

We need a core group of smart and exciting assistants who understand the modern game, as well as a focus on developing talent.
The wheel is slowly turning with Woosha. Putting aside injury, is starting to play our younger players in their appropriate positions.

The development of Parish, Guelfi, Clarke, Leverde, McGrath, Irish, Langford, Draper, has been pretty good. It just needs to get to the level of the likes of the Cats/Hawks.

Ouch! If you’re a Carlton player you wouldn’t be reading the paper today :joy: or any day for that matter

Is it really 7 spoons in 19 years? Surely not!

This year will be six, next year will be seven.
2002, 05, 06, 15, 18, (19).

The AFL will give them extra picks this year.

Why run an afl club just to pick up wooden spoons?

You can get them from the Reject shop for a couple of dollars each.

They have to give them an end of first round.
They can have another pick somewhere if they sack SOS.

That really puts it into perspective.

As a kid growing up saints were always THAT bad, maybe Fitzroy too, but they knocked us out of finals in 86(?) and were there about a in 84(?), so they get a leave pass.

2002-2019 is 18 seasons, not 17.

P.S. Fark Carlton.

Ha, I did that in 2002 to wave at the game. Gave one to a Fark Carlton workmate. The other half of the two-pack is still in use in my kitchen.
