To be fair all of the sanfl clubs have great development programs.
Not all
Why aren’t our f/s are highly rated like some other teams are we doing something wrong with developing them? Joe the only one who went top 10
No. It’s our breeding program that has flaws.
Hird, Fletcher & Jobe Watson all turned out pretty well, cost us peanuts. Bessing in disguise if these kids stay under the radar. For what it’s worth Kobe Bewick is the best 12 year old in the country, if he stays on his current trajectory he is going to be impossible to hide in the coming years and we’ll have to cough up a lot of points.
We have two kids who could be first round picks next season.
We also have the best 11 year old in the country, who at his age is rivalling Matt Rowell & Nick Daicos.
We also got Joe Daniher who would have been the no. 1 pick.
I’d be more concerned with our under developed Tiwi zone than our F/S academy
Hird turned out pretty well, did cost us peanuts, but he wasn’t a f/s, just a late order draft pick
Well, he probably wouldn’t have been drafted by us if he weren’t the son/grandson of former club players.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again:
Bulldogs, Cats and maybe the Pies are the only teams that have done better than us with F/S. Most teams are lucky to have gotten one or two decent ones.
If you don’t believe me, you can find the full list of F/S picks on wikipedia.
Who is the 11 year old player you speak of?
Apparently Wolf Watson is the best 18 month old kid in the state (not sure about the country).
The fact that there is a very good chance, that next year, 2 of our father sons could end up being first round picks…… its pretty funny that anyone could be complaining about Father-Sons.
Koby Bewick. Have a read up thread, the early signs are pretty remarkable.
Koby Bewick.
Has won an under 11s best and fairest every season since he was 7.
He’s been racking up every award possible for that age.
I’m interested. Tell me more. His traits, background. How tall is he, can he play as an inside bull?
He is 11.
Started off as an inside midfielder for 3/4 of a year, then transitioned to an outside player about 18 months ago. Ball skills currently need development. His understanding of the gameplan is extremely immature. Tends to lose his footing quite a lot.
Cox, Perkins & Reid will be 25 when he’s eligible.
Primed for when we’re in the middle of a dynasty.
He has excellent fine motor skills, able to crawl both ways and is allowed to play inside and outside depending on weather. We need to think about banking points for 2038 or we could go into deficit.
