I have never heard that before, but find it entirely possible. A pity as well. I would have taken Winmar over Antrobus any day.

True as far as Winmar is concerned, I played 2 seasons of cricket with him and it was the first thing he told me when I said I was an Essendon supporter.

Interesting that Alex Hird is back training with us during pre-season. I don’t think he played aussie rules again in 2021 (played soccer?). Maybe Dodoro has a plan to put Alex on the Cat B in 2023 if he doesn’t play footy again in 2022.

What happened with Josh Misiti, he nominated for this years draft but we didn’t pick him up or offer him to train with us?
I thought he was rated as the best youngster to come out of JHA in the last few years?
You thought or heard wrong. Moore was the best prospect for this year, but none of them really stepped up. For various reasons.

He was coming along quite well, and he is a big boy for his age.
From what I have seen, Calder tried to turn him into a big bodied midfielder…… and it really set him backwards. He has mainly been a third tall Defender for most of his junior career.
But it’s not all lost, a lot of these kids haven’t played much football. Hopefully he joins our VFL program, and we can manage his development. He’s still young and has plenty of time.

I think the plan is for him to play as an over age player for calder again next year.

They both appear of a reasonable height. Which of the two is the better footballer? The one wearing the cap appears the taller (could it be the Tulla grass) and heavier bodied.
That photo is from May so they may grow a little more before their draft year but both where last listed at 180cm. Alwyn Jr is the better player but Jayden is coming of an ACL so he hasn’t had as much exposure.

How grand is it having the Davey boys joining us at the end of the year! Every snap I see of them at training together brings me joy.
Something about them being twins makes it even more fun - we’re building such a tight-knit group of young talent all coming through the system together, and we’re about to add a couple of brothers, who already have strong connections to the club! How great is that for our culture. Not to mention just how wonderful it’ll be having some more indigenous players on the list as well.
