We prefer to bid on players from other academies. That way we can say we tried, but not actually have them on the list.

The inaugural Fitzroy Cubs have defeated Carlton VFL in an exciting contest at Ikon Park today.
The Cubs 12.13 (85) defeated the Blues 12.7 (79).
The Fitzroy Cubs program has been introduced this year to showcase Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally diverse talent prior to the AFL Mid-Season Draft.
Father-son draftable players for the Brisbane Lions are also eligible to be part of the team, but Marcus Ashcroft’s son Will is not eligible to be taken in the mid-year draft, and Lachlan Johnson – son of Chris Johnson – injured his calf during the week.
Jason Williams coached the team with Jethro Calma-Holt, Marlon Motlop and Courtenay Dempsey his assistants.
Nigel Lockyer, Beau O’Connell and Patrick Taban all performed well for the Cubs.
