Father Son Watch (2017 onwards)

I hope El Achkar is a little 171cm ducking cheat like Watson.

Cannons Under 16s lost by 37 points and Bewick kicked 2 goals out of the teams 7

Further to the above, Bewick voted by Calder as their best player over the two games they’ve played.

Bewick is the Captain also, along with Darwish.

A friend in the junior scouting game sent me this message today:

At todays vic under 16 championship trials game an AFL recruiter at halftime said “get Koby Bewick off the ground, he’s ruining the game for everyone else”

Our collingwood era of a successful team full of F/S, NGA, and AFL concessions is coming folks.
Just believe

Collingwood and Carlton have good father sons in the wings too.

Cody Walker - Blues
Harry Dean - Blues
Toby MCGuane - Pies
Oscar Lonie - Pies

Yeah but, are they Bewick good?

Walkers good but 2026 draft, I think.

McGuanne (38 disposals + 10 clearances) made team of the week, in coates league. Along with Pies NGA Zac MCCarthy

Also Sweid and El-Achkar for us

Callum Smith Kevin Bartletts Grandson.

Saxena is also a Collingwood NGA player I am pretty sure

Yep small forward.

Pies can probably draft purely father son/ academy this year.

#3 Jai Saxena
Small Forward | 179cm | 27/07/2007

Stats: 17 disposals, 6 marks, 5 goals

Having burst onto the scene last week, Saxena took his star turn to new heights with a bag of five goals. The Collingwood NGA candidate snapped his side’s first goal and made it back-to-back majors with a sharp shot over his shoulder. He has a light frame but handled the ball cleanly both at ground level and when presenting at kickers, which allowed him even more chances at goal. Saxena struck the ball well over the mark and finished tidily from the pocket, proving near-unstoppable in front of the big sticks in a team which wasted many chances.

A saints fan on BigFooty posted the following about Bewick’s game:

“Probably best on, particularly in the first half when Metro had their foot on the accelerator and the pace of the game was at its fastest”

Tom McGuanne is very small for the role he is playing. Will be very interesting to see if he can handle the bigger, more powerful players.
Lonie shaping a later pick.

But with the new draft index it will be interesting to see how they manage it if all 4 come on.
May have to dip into next years capital

Yep McGuane will have potentially same issue as Sweid is he big enough for AFL role. Or maybe like Gulden they will both be let go later in the draft.

Sweid at least as a more stocky frame like a Neale, Paps type. He also seems a more naturally inclined defender, likes to tackle and pressure.

Will all come down to system and coaching. Can a coach use the strengths

I do wonder with so many clubs with linked players and the higher matching cost whether clubs will bid earlier now to reduce the cost for themselves.

Walker is very good, can almost lock him in the top 10 nearly two years out.

Hoping he goes to Richmond and not the rats

Mellor is Geelong NGA.

So there’s 7 in that team alone

Kye Fincher is also St Kilda NGA I believe.

From the remainder I like Evans and Sharkie, Wright and Bamert in the middle are two to keep an eye on
