Father Son Watch (2017 onwards)

It’s great to see another Bewick running around in the number 8. Hopefully they kick Brayden out of the number in 2 years.

Seems odd that he goes to a public school? I know PEGS don’t spend what they used to on their footy any more but surely he’d get a scholarship anywhere he wanted?

Yeah I don’t know why.
But the school is one of the most highly regarded state high schools.

I expect he went to Strathmore SC by choice, even though PEGS don’t officially give out sports scholarships anymore, they do via another general category, I know kids who are on them. Given the caliber of athlete those kids are, he would have 100% got an offer from PEGS, mostly likely on several occaisons.

PEGS and Rowville imho

PEGS is private.

I wonder how many drafted footballers are full fee paying private school students. They hand pick these kids like it’s a draft and claim as their own

I’m fairly sure I read awhile back he said no to the private system as he knew this was the only time he would ever get to play with his mates. Or something to that effect.

I can see the headline already. Selfish Bomber player has no friends at the club.

Oh for sure, any excuse to sink the boots in sadly

Think it’s really important that we draft this year with the expectation of Bewick coming in too.

By the looks of things he is going to be a good outside midfielder to pair alongside Robey/Sharp/Durham/Caldwell and potentially Justice.

Probably means we shouldn’t be looking at picking Drever or Gus unless we absolutely think they are miles better than anyone else.

Given that, and Vigos last couple of games I think Butler is definitely our best choice if we do have pick one.

I know it’s early but what is the projected pick range for Bewick?

Pretty difficult at this stage as will also depend on how many of the top 17 yr olds accept being pre listed by Tassie.

I don’t think people are saying he’s a clear top 3 type player. Not sure we should be making our first draft pick decision on the back of getting him next year.

It’s complicated by the fact a lot of the 17yr olds are having strong seasons. Bewick may not be top 10 in rankings (I have no idea, just saying as an example) but that might be because it’s an incredibly strong draft. You would in that case still be planning on getting him.

From everything I’ve read Bewick is an absolute certainty to be a high quality draftee.

I think Bewick is a different beast to both those guys.

Drever will end up a similar style midfielder to Durham; tall, powerful and good in both directions.

Tex also plays with more contested and power in his game.

Bewick compares better to a shorter version of Nic Martin, silky and smart in the contest and then a superb penetrating kick.

This 100 per cent

John Noble

Waiting 5 years in anticipation for a John Noble would be super depressing

that is the type of player he is, outside leaning, long kicking runner with the ability to push forward and have a high impact going inside 50
