Preston Prahran GF at the Junction maybe 1978
Prahran has the Dominator and a swag of coppers…lou Pepe, Ian McGuinness, Robbie Anderson.
Preston coached by Harold Martin.
Good football and hard bastards.
I spent a lot of Sundays at Caulfield. Mega-beers before, during and after the game. Pity was the club was run by rogues who stole all the money the club made.
Wasn’t there, obviously, but the 4 flags must’ve been great. Need to be recognised, if only to ■■■■ Eddie off.
Prahran V Preston (IIRC) GF, mid to late 1980's. l went because l had an ex-student of mine playing as rover for Prahran. They won, the highlight for me was when my mate sat Ray Shaw on his ■■■■ late in the game. Might have been Shaw's last game. Retired having never won a GF.
Freddy Cook and Frosty Miller. Legends. Big Bob Johnson. Legend. Phil Gibbs and the Channel 0 crew getting trapped in their OBV by a baying mob at the Frankston Ground. Frankston winning the 2nd Div. GF at Prahran in '78 (?). Peter Geddes and Mike Paterson at Frankston. Jackie Mihocek playing a year or two at Frankton.

Ray Shaw was merely the captain/coach of the 83/84 Grand Finals.
Lots of great memories of the VFA from the mid 70's until the mid 90's. Used to go to Cramer St every Second Sunday. Will make a longer post in the next few days.
Watching it on ABC and waiting for the breaks to see what the scores are elsewhere in the VFL as I was too young to go to the games.
Also watching Coburg and commentating substituting the players with Essendon players based on the numbers.
Yep, even as a kid I had no life.
High scoring,tough ■■■■■■ everywhere and great full forwards,Fred cook,Kim smith,joe redogorvic,Rex hunt etc.colour,excitement and controversy

Sly grog behind the scoreboard
I missed out.
My Granddad was the live-in groundskeeper for Sunshine (Skinner reserve, I think?) for many years. My older brother reckons it was awesome going to visit him, because you'd have a whole footy ground to go and play on. But sadly he passed before I was even born.
Skinner Reserve was a huge ground.I missed out.

Used to watch Essendon on a Saturday with dad and on Sundays the mates and I used to alternate between Williamstown in first division and Yarraville in second division depending on who was playing at home. There was some skilful footy in first division and some awesome fights in second division.
Fred Cook v Frosty Miller. The bloodbath GF between Port and Dandenong..
Alan noonan playing for coburg on sunday afternoon was special, laurie burt, trevor price, gary sheldon, david starbuck.
Williamstown had a lot of ex bombers in the early 70.s les stillman ,billy thompson ,john fanning, colin boyd, kevin egan and david collins..
Also captain coach max papley ex swan who was genuinely tough ,mick mulligan ,bulldogs richard rags radziminski ron fenton and bob percy , carltons daryl dunlop greg boxall and barry gill, swan robert zorro svorinich .
Mark fotheringham ex abers kicked a lot of goals for williamstown moreso in the eighties.
Sadly Brian Buckley, passed away early this week.
He was Captain Coach of Port in the imfamous 67 grand final, when he wanted to take his players off the ground.
Because of questionable umpiring.
Good read on wickpedia 67VFA GF for those who dont know.
Gary "Happy" Hammond at full-forward for Camberwell during the seventies. He was only a little guy about 178 cm and lightly built but his marking was positively Colemanesqe.
In the early 80’s Peter Jurgensen kicked many goals at full forward for Northcote. He didn’t have to worry about verbal taunts and abuse from opponents or spectators as he was deaf.
