I've applied in the MCC ballot for GF tickets, mainly because a mate comes down from Sydney every year for it, but if I don't get them, I'll be dropping him off at the G at 7am, and going home.
If I go, and Demetriou makes his presence smelt, I'll be booing the fat turd from the MCC members'.
The AFL commission and executive robbed us of the finals this year, along with the interest it usually brings. This year, they've also robbed Essendon fans of the excitement we were due.
I'll keep an eye on the games, may not watch them all, but I'll be watching the finals of Aussie Rules footy, not AFL football.
The Grand Final will be a celebration of Aussie Rules, not a center piece for the AFL. Fark 'em.
We will feel better once the season is completely over, as the AFL talk will dry up.
I’m with most, I went on Sat as I needed to show my support, however I didn’t see a minute of another game, nor did I know who won over the weekend.
People taking pot shots will remain, like Fatrick this morning mocking the HPC. My advice is let them and ignore it, when we succeed it will feel even better.
I just hope we don’t end up having a flat year next year because of the coaching situation, it will be hard for the players I feel, hence I want Bomber to do it. At least there will be some consistency for the players as he is a guy that knows what he’s doing, you would also think everyone respects him and he also demands performance.
I was feeling flat as a tac ... and still peeved at the loss of the finals expectation I'd built up for our boys to go in and have a real crack ... especially after the Carlton win ... but what's said is said, and whats done is done, and I'm going the other way and will try and enjoy what I can of the finals series as I have in the past when Essendon has not participated.
Many on here will want to lynch me for this, but I'm jumping on the tigers. Got a few Richmond mates, and would like to see the Tigers have some finals sucess ... even if only knocking Carlton out! That'll do.
Would actually like to see Freo win it also. Can't say why.
also agree with this
"The Grand Final will be a celebration of Aussie Rules, not a center piece for the AFL. Fark 'em."
Yep feeling flat, at some point, early 2014, we need someone to rally the troops (Sheedy esque) we need to say fark em all and go for being the biggest club in the land again, imagine getting more members than Collingwood in 2014 that would make everyone sit up and take notice, I'm buying additional 2A (Dad & wife) and 2 kids m/ships next year
I'll never forget being at the semifinal against West Coast at G in '96 with 90,000+ fans swinging our jackets, that's right 90,000 Essendon fans in 1996!! that's where we need to be again see following at 12 mins in: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zo2T24oztIw
It's my turn to host the Grand Final BBQ with my mates but I feel like cancelling it or at the very least with no media coverage. I still support Essendon but I'll never support the A farken L again.
Still have the BBQ.
But, add a bit of a laxative to the food. Then when later that night when your mates saying WTF and ■■■■■■■■ themselves, you can tell them that "they should have taken more responsibility and checked what they put in their bodies"

Go Bombers
And i'll never forget the following week when Dunkley decided to do his gardening on James Hird's face. But alas, anything is fair game on James Hird.
I’m with you LB. Just so fast. Truth be told, I’ve been struggling since about April, and it’s been getting steadily worse. I’m hoping it improves in October.
Can’t see myself watching any finals.
Hmmm, maybe it will get better when I finish my 2000 words of venting that I’m half way through but can’t be stuffed tidying up. Will have to consult with my counsellor on that one…
Fark. What a rubbish 6 months. Even allowing for the 14 wins.
Been a bad year for me personally anyway..... my family business went bankrupt, lost my job as a result. I had to give away a beloved pet because he started spraying all over the house as soon as I had children. Have been dirt broke most of the northern summer. Working a crappy temp job with bad hours and low pay.
Essendon is but one of many sports teams I follow and hold dear to my heart, but I get especially fired up when something like this happens. The success/failure/premiership window cycle sometimes takes a long time to turn over.... it isn't like the NFL where you can go buy a bunch of free agents (not yet anyway). 2000 feels like such a long time ago now.... there are kids in high school now who don't remember it.
I was feeling really quite optimistic for most of the year. I knew we were in the right. I believed the rhetoric. I bought into the "sit tight, be confident" nonsense which I'm really embarrassed about now.
The final result left me shattered, and has made me very angry, very bitter, and very vindictive. I'll never forgive this league. Never. They've taken something away from all of us. The league is a joke, and now every stupid mistake it makes is magnified to me tenfold. I noticed all the terrible umpiring decisions more than I did before, like the Geelong-Brisbane matchwinner the other day. I notice and have become more sensitive to things like playing a final at whatever the fark Kardinia Park is called now, or that unbelievable Port-Carlton jumper clash. All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
I don't think I've well and truly realized until now what an absolute clusterf-ck of a league this is and how unbelievably poor it is being run.
I wish, I wish, I wish I had been following this sport during my childhood, when it was real. Part-time players, suburban grounds, no farksticks running around in teal or purple. I guess it's better.... I can idealize it more having not been around for it. Because footy, like pretty much everything else from my childhood, is becoming less and less enjoyable the older I get.
I feel like a close family member just died but everybody thinks he was a paedophile so I can't even grieve properly. I also now despise the totalitarian AFL with every fibre of my being.
Come on boys and girls, we all felt the pain and it is right and proper to pour it all out.
Pity all of you were not at the G on Saturday. I am old, but the real oldtimers were out to give there support. The couple in front of me, have been members for over 60 years and they found it hard to get to games, but they were there clapping and cheering and crying.
Have a mad Monday, have a break and please return. We are a special breed, and we are winners.
Has anyone seen anything like that since 1996 final ?As supporters I believe we have taken success for granted and I cant recall a crowd like that since ..to only get 55k members and to have to scratch and fight for those number is poor considering our supporter base ( Richmond have more members ffs! ) ...maybe , just maybe this whole thing will stop people thinking ..ohh someone else will do it. Plus the club may now treat us like we deserve to be treated , no more lock out training , less membership seating rubbish , more autograph time , more of everything that they have slowly removed from the fans over the past few years with a degree of arrogance . No longer will we be the necessary nuisance . If everyone sticks for next year , the club needs to be clever and engage us again to awaken the beast . If we get on a roll , its going to be the best journey ...like the early 80s and for us that lived the 70s we all know how good that was ..nothing has compared since 84..maybe the contemporary 84 is around the corner . onwards and upwards !
