They may try this, but I think the team will be wanting to get home to Melbourne to be with family ASAP if it meant not having to be away from home for another week. If we need to fly up to Qld in a couple of weeks for a day trip or over night, I think the team would prefer that. What would have been better is we play GC this weekend and hopefully return back to Melbourne mid next week to play both Sydney teams in Melb.
Is there a reason why most games are scheduled for Metricon and not the GABBA? Is there some contractual thing? Being in Noosa you would think GABBA easier to get to. Also as the home team we should get to choose location.

I don’t think it’s as easy as just bringing our GCS game forward a few weeks.
It will affect other fixtures, and many of them.

More likely they request that game in Melbourne I’d have thought. Get this 3 week swing to QLD done, then back to Melbourne to finish off the last 3 games. And with only 1 game nominally fixtured at Marvel for Round 22, it should be easily achievable.
Sunday fixture against the Giants means we also avoid b2b 6 day breaks for the Giants/Swans games.

This is true, but the crowds were also pretty ordinary at Metricon on the weekend. As in not much better than an empty stadium.
And it’s much better for people to sleep in their own beds as much as possible, see their families.
I am guessing Sydney must have had friends and families doing 2 weeks quarantine in QLD the last two so they can see them in the next two?
i’d rather get them now while green is in isolation and several others are under injury clouds

I was thinking they could move the Sydney game and swap with gold coast game. I am very happy to play GWS this week.

Aren’t they already bringing forward the GC vs Bris game from Round 20 to Round 19? So they already need to find GC a new game in Round 20, so why not us?

Can someone… anyone… please explain why other games are being played in Victoria… but we are still playing in QLD???
I am just not understanding it.
QLD is not a red zone… so all players are free to return to VIC… surely surely surely reality can come in here please.
There is simply no reason why we are playing in QLD last weekend and this weekend. None. None. None.
Other teams are still getting home games but EFC is not. I simply don’t understand why there is not more anger about this.

There was almost a bigger cheer for Essendon missing an easy set shot, than when they actually kicked one.
There was probably only about 2,500 Essendon supporters at the game yesterday.
Rubbish… far more red & black in the stands & walking around. Reckon we were at least 70 - 80% of the crowd.

Thank you for stating this… I think there are some numpties who didn’t actually realise this.
We are literally playing 3 ‘away’ games interstate because Sydney players cracked the sads and threatened the AFL.
We, as usual, were seen as the weak link and sent packing. Whole thing is a joke.
