Former #10 Saint Francis, sacked from the Sydney Diocese

Hard fought 50 games. Proud of frang and hope there’s many more.

Based on his only other finals appearance he’s in for a big game.

I love how he declared that he thinks finals suit him.

This. Just watched reply from the weekend’s game and his penetrating field kicking is a weapon. Really gets through the air quickly.
Pretty impressive.

I think all Francis needs is a breakout game
He is a confidence player
He was a standout in his draft year
Was mooted as a no 1 choice for a while
I think playing his 50 th in a final Will bring the best out of him
I hope he has a blinder

He’s almost as good as Zerret in this regard, but I reckon he had to reign it in, play a bit safer at half back

2-3 times a game is enough to set up a couple goals.

Agree. Coz he went for them early in his career and they didn’t come off. But you know he has the capacity to pull them off…therefore I think he lost confidence. Confidence in the arcs. He’s happy to go for dart passes around the ground and executes them perfectly most of the time. By shots for goal? Needs a four goal game. It’s close. He will be a champion.

How many goal franga kick this weekend

Edit: 6

There is no chance Francis kicks 4-6 goals

He’d need to be getting 6-8 shots on goal. Even in dry conditions against poor opposition over past few weeks he’s had 3 shots on goal for 0.3 in total.

Not a goal scoring threat at all. Or a marking threat inside 50, 1 mark inside 50 over past two weeks.

What he is doing it seems is at least flying to create a contest, and also dragging his defender up the ground which is providing space in our fwd line. And when he is getting ball up field has had some nice kicks to advantage inside 50.

Jones was 0.4 in his first game, wasn’t he?

Jones Rd1. 0.3 from 3 marks inside 50. Playing as a 3rd tall forward. In his debut game.

It’s not Francis’s first game. And he’s one of our main kpf’s, moreso when 2MP goes into ruck so should be getting plenty of ball directed to/through him.

He’s not a threat himself in the fwd line but structurally the coaches are happy with what’s he’s bringing thus far.

There is no chance he’s kicking a bag in the wet in a final however which is all I was responding to.

The forward line is still functioning much better with him in it then it was for the last month of Hooker. I much prefer Francis in over Hooker. He’s getting to far more contests plus because he’s actually running to somewhere away from the goal square it’s creating space for others

Kicked 2 in the first half of the dogs game 3 weeks ago.

and that probably contributed to what 2MP did later in the game because the dogs had to have someone accountable for Francis

I guess they’ll send Wood to Frang to start the game this time - that was the adjustment they made IIRC when Cordy was not handling him.

Reckon both sides might struggle to kick more than 6 or 8. Going to be a typical scrappy game in Tasmania with crap conditions and a crap ground

I beg to differ. The ground is fine, and the weather, well you never know

Crap ground? Every player I’ve ever heard talk about it says that ground has one of the best playing surfaces in Australia.

l said the same about the ground the first game l saw televised this season. It looked like it was in perfect condition.

i’m pretty lukewarm on francis the forward in his present output.

he’s got the tools to do good stuff and he does, from time to time. He just doesn’t do enough of it. he goes missing for large periods and rarely stays involved for long.

it seems to me he offers exactly the same as a forward as he did when he got a few cameos as a forward in his first few years.

as i say though, he’s got all the tool he needs, so i wonder if it just a confidence and self believe thing. He just doesn’t seem to keep presenting and keep demanding/expecting the pill.

I don’t know what it will take to unlock this guys potential but i really hope it clicks for him.
