Former #10 Saint Francis, sacked from the Sydney Diocese

He’ll still be handy for us taking Gleeson’s spot as the next-in-line depth defender.

He was far from the worst forward today, not that there was much competition. Clearly, we need to think long and hard about our forward line and how we deliver the ball into it.
Then, we need to execute that effectively and kick straighter, too.

Please trade - he was mistake at 5 so let’s move on. Would we get a pick in the 20s from Adelaide 20? Fark Port they screwed us with Orazio.

Unimpressed.
Not improving. Unreliable and not going to give us the boost we need.
Jones will take a year or two to develop as a key forward.

He wasn’t our worst not sure of the need to pile on

I can’t give him a pass mark today. I know he hasn’t played forward much but how competitive is this bloke? How much does he want to win? He’s not the only one in our side who I think lacks that killer instinct and he did some good things from time to time but if Adelaide offered us something half decent I’d think about it.

He was a pick 5 who just doesn’t do enough!

What pick he was is irrelevant

Look…

He is holding up an end until next year, when Jones & Baldwin will start getting games.

We can all see it just isn’t going to work.

Who gives a ■■■■ what pick he was. Judge him on his performance over the season.

He did nothing

The pick we took him with is utterly irrelevant now. That was six years ago.

He stays on the list for mine, but he’s increasingly going to be fringe 22 unless he starts to get some consistency in his game. Jones will take his spot forward, and we’ve got better interceptors down back, while he’s still too small to take the real monster forwards. Needs to make a role his own…

ok - it was crap. Flies for marks and drops too many and tries things with his kicking that just don’t come off - especially through into the corridor.

Aaron Francis + a 3rd rounder for…

Fine. His selection number in the draft is a non factor now.

Well that’s certainly a good result for a top 6 pick

Not a day for marking but would love to see him hold a few of those pack mark attempts.

At least he gets to the contest high up the ground and for someone who has played mainly down back he has done okay.

Ask Lav how hard it is up forward. Ask Stewart. Ask Hooker.

If we can get some mongrel in him he would be better up forward. Is it in his nature? Probably not? If we had a gun full forward who led up the middle and a couple of gun small forwards around him Francis would make a good CHF.

I suppose we won’t know what is in store for him until pre-season starts.

He comes straight from the Essendon school of: “cannot play at AFL level unless it is beyond perfect conditions”.

Needs to find the hunger and tenacity required of a good player these days.

Talent alone isn’t enough.

If you put Durham’s heart and ferocity in this blokes body, you’d have another Stringer.

We have a 1st rounder and then 3rd rounders. I say we try to do a switch-a-roo by offloading Francis back to SA for a 2nd rounder with a 3rd going their way. He is not a forward, he has been superceded in the back. Completely unreliable and inconsistent. Cut our losses. I hope he has a good career back in SA. That’ll be a win-win for both parties.

Seems to be getting slower. Watched him in a few VFL games where he killed it. just wouldn’t give up. Doesn’t seem to have a 2nd effort now, missing marks and has lost his kicking strength. Needs to be closer to family I think. Still think he can play but needs to get body and mind right. Late 2nd round, early 3rd pick hopefully.
