Former #10 Sam Weideman

Not sure if serious…

Todd Ridley wore 18 and was a moderately promising young player. We traded Ridley, Tony Delaney and ? Dale Kickett (not sure) to Freo to get picks for Lloyd and Lucas.

This is up up there with the best deal ever. We might laugh about Ridley and Delaney but they would have played about the average no if AFL for a draftee. I remember cheering each of them.

Of course I’m not serious. I was in my 40’s when Todd was playing at Essendon

EFC have asked him to isolate for a period of 14 days from the last time he went to Princess Park.

I think this bloke has a lot more upside than Setterfield.

The best thing about picking up Weideman and Setterfield is reading and believing the pre-draft commentary on them.

Hey you defender, get your damn hands off the footy

Now I’m worried… is he going to grasp at his opportunity or seize it?

If you watch the video, they’re not the actual lockers - they’re some sort of commemorative set of 5 somewhere else in the hangar they just used for pics, so I’d say no

Does anyone else think he dyes his hair??

Was about to post the same.

Haha, yeah I sort of had that thought a few days back when I was looking at an interview of him.

But I think it’s just a combination of his hair shade looking close to a bottle job and the product he uses to style it. Looking at this 2015 interview it seems to be basically the same colour (allowing for the washed out quality of the youtube clip):

Actually more concerning is that he basically has the same hair cut as 7 years ago.

Come on, mix it up a bit Weed.

We should have traded for Oliver

Interesting discussion point. I feel Weideman at this stage is more likely cover for 2MP rather than the first step towards a twin tower type Fwd line. But if they do both play I see them both playing deep with one leading into a forward pocket while the othe remains close to the goal square. Jones can fit this structure as Royce Hart type floating CHF where he can come across packs to mark rather than standing under the ball in a contested situation.

Then you would have Stringer and Two small forwards. A pressure type small like D’Ambrosio or Guelfi and a creative goal sneak like Wanganeen or perhaps Davey.

If it’s real, it’s a good head of hair.

I agree. I think he is quite a good out and out ruckman and was handy resting forward as a foil for 2MP. That and Draper was better with him in the side. He has a contract for 2023 so 1 more year of him am a squad player.

Neither of these two are long term small forwards imo. I’m not convinced by Massimo’s last few weeks in the forwardline, his pressure wasn’t great and I don’t think he is a natural crumbing player. I see more value developing him in the back half, ideally with the kickouts, just don’t get Hurley teaching him.

We need guys with serious speed and goal nous in the forward half, then we need coaches to get them to buy into the defensive side of things. The Davey boys will be key imo, they have the combination of traits we need in the forwardline and from what I’ve seen they both love a tackle (Like their father). Munkara, like most Tiwi guys, has a good balance between offense and defense, he just needs to find himself in an environment that can adequately nurture his talent.

We just need Walla back and embracing a role as the elder
