That’s not necessarily true. Every year there are a few players who are not cut in the first wave of delistings but get cut post trade period or post draft. I’m crossing everything this is one such example :grimacing:

hes been delisted from the list of delistings this year and re-listed on the not to be delisted listing.

Why are people upset?? This is a good thing.

Easiest decision for Brad, yet here we are. Clearly because he was involved in bringing him in.

What the ■■■■ is wrong with us as a club. It’s obvious that Weed isn’t in our best 22 and won’t be in our next premiership side.
Why sacrifice two list spots on Goldy and Weed??? It just doesn’t make any sense. I don’t want them as back up. Surely we can find another ruck as back up that will provide as much in games as Goldy did in the 2nd half of the year.
Weed… Honestly thought he would have been the first delisted. ■■■■ me Baldwin got delisted and we kept Weed? What the hell is wrong with us.

I guess there’s a small chance we gauge trade interest before making the call, but most of these things happen well in advance, in the background, these days.

The counterpoint to that is that Scott showed little interest in playing him in the seniors this year, so it’s all a bit weird atm.

Very valid point. Incredibly confusing.

Weid shouldn’t be on our list next year, but looking at the draft order, right now we only have two picks. 8 and 28. https://www.afl.com.au/news/1215640/indicative-draft-order-gold-coast-suns-first-round-picks-locked-in-after-western-bulldogs-exit

If we are to lose Stringer and Laverde, that is a lot of spots to fill up if we also then cut Weid and Goldstein.

Maybe at the end of it all, Weid will get delisted, but as it stands there are too many unknowns to cut the cord.

Have no idea of what the delay is about the new contract, maybe saving it untill after some bad news ?

Edit: Just read above, perhaps waiting until the Stringer/Laverde trade/delisting is done then they can announce the new contract.

If we can’t find anyone who is on par with this guy you’d take someone less
Talent but with a heart and some no feel any day

Don’t disappoint me essendon

We currently have four off the senior list. That could grow to at least six, with question marks over Stringer, Laverde and Shiel.

If you lose Stringer and Lav, for example, you turn the two picks into whatever is needed for Kako.

That could be six players off the senior list, with only three coming in through the national draft. That’s three further senior spots to fill with SSP shitkickers/project players. We also have cut two from the rookie list.

If it comes down to cutting Weid to pick up a fifth long shot/SSP player, I’m probably keeping the experienced guy.

What about the knowns. We know that Weideman isn’t up to it. We know that Goldy is finished. There is no valid argument for retaining either of them.

I’ll watch but not like it

The number 10 jumper should be vacated immediately and given to someone who can actually play football.

One thing is known for sure, Weid is Farking useless and we may as well go in one man down on the list.

Just cut the Farking cord and delist.
