Former #10 Sam Weideman

Game was over as a contest when the Saints kicked their fourth goal.

He did get Essington’ed.

I’m sure I heard he got an extra year when he crossed, ie contracted until 2024

To me he’s either just in or just out of the 22. Either way he’s a magnet on a board, not a spearhead you build around.

I still think KPF has to be top of our shopping list - draft/trade/FA.

Will be interesting to see how he performs when he has 2mp standing next to him and a competent third tall we will see if that’s Voss or Jones.
I think that’s when we will see he’s value to the team

Trouble is, Weed himself plays like a third tall. But he can’t ruck.

im happy to give him a few more weeks but how he played on sunday could not have been a more accurate representation of his time at Melbourne and what i expected from him.

I’d settle for a chest mark. He must have dropped 3 in the first 5 minutes

He was no good with a dominant midfield, what makes people think he’ll be good with ours?

The guy is listed at 197cm, if he cant step up to play a key postion when required and at atleast hold his own…then he can go back to VFL

He definitely needs more time and Saturday wouldn’t have been easy for any tall. What I don’t like is that he’s arguably holding out Voss and maybe Baldwin from the team. Who both had similar or better VFL goal scoring seasons last year in their first seasons.

In the long run I think 3 talls and stringer is / will be too tall. Mind you, I’ll be surprised if stringer is still part of the side if we ever push for another flag and 3 talls with no stringer sounds reasonable to me.

We have to aim to have forward line personnel and system that works without Draper or 2mp deep so that Draper can rest and 2mp can ruck without the forward line stinking. Having a party pinch hitting second ruck with 2mp on the list makes no sense to me.

We’re certainly due to target a gun tall forward with a first round draft pick or via trade.

Regardless we desperately need at least 1 of weid, Jones and voss to have an impact going forward. Voss is miles ahead based purely on temperament and physicality imo, he needs to be brought in to be tested against quality kpds

He needs that sticky stuff - grippo on his hands for next weeks game.

Yeah essentially we need one of Voss or Jones to come/be good and then one genuine KPF.

I agree on Stringer, and I guess was alluding to what you have said a bit. I’d imagine if most were choosing a medium forward to play for us going forward out of Perkins, Stringer and maybe Langford then Stringer would be last.

Jon Ralph just said he has been cleared of any structural damage but wont play next week

That hit was huge.
If he only misses 1 week that would be a good result.

after hearing Mitch lewis and others talk about concussion would give him a couple of weeks

Looked pretty rough to me, I would give him a good month out and then return on limited game time through the Vfl.

We are one more tall injury away from bringing Baldwin back and pushing Ridley forward.
