Yep, your running brigade who are imperative to transition footy (offensive and defensive) are where you want to invest the bulk of your money - mids, high half forwards, half backs, wings, and at least one marquee small forward on big money.
You probably want one gun tall forward but rucks and multiple key forwards on big money is probably a waste.

I don’t know exactly how it works. But i would assume there is some sort of “audit” day that the AFL uses to calculate what a player’s applicable salary for this free agency palava is. It’s probably not until then that some players know whether or not they are on the top 25% (players dont know what there team mates are earning).
