But also we could be Reid, Vigo, Clarke, Johnson, May, Huss, Sweid and Gerreyn away from competing. We’ll then have more picks next year, Bewick not long after, maybe another FA and who knows what we look like.
Reid or draft, I think we’d be in an ok position either way.
Forgot about the two second round picks, they’re basically Sweid and Hussein unless they both slide down the order (possible).
I guess the question is if we rate this draft to fulfill our list needs and is it strong enough to do so. And does a perhaps generational player be worth more than a few cracks at a poorer draft?
I don’t see how that works at all.
The AFL ‘formula’ for a 27 year-old on a long term, big $ contract will guarantee a first round pick.
Which is what he’s worth and what he’ll be offered by both Essendon and his suitors.
I still think he’ll stay, and I’d still keep him if it was our choice.
I don’t understand how anyone has any confidence at all in this Club drafting well - sure Rosa is looking much improved but its very early days on that yet
Not if they are offering NWM $1m plus.
Crows are usually pretty thrifty with their salaries and if both Draper and NWM come in for close to $2m combined I’d suspect some others would be looking to exit as their cap space will be quite horrid in the coming years
Haha! I was fooled by the blanked out part of your post. I thought you were saying it would be good value for Draper, when i’m guessing you were saying sheet value.
Not sure WC will be in a strong bargaining position. If Reid is sure he wants to go to any club, that club can offer something in the ball park, say 2 x R1, and if WC knock it back and hold him to his contract, they know they will have to take whatever they can get 12mth later.
