I know its each to their own, but im pretty comfortable giving up 3 picks for a known quantity and a lesser pick back.
Especially considering what we have coming through our academy and father son over the next couple of years.
The best sides arent made up of first round draft picks. We have literally proven that.
Reid is the exact type of player we have been missing since Hirdy, and again not everyone agrees, but I am of the opinion this list already has quite a lot of young talent on it.

If West Coast think the same they will want 4 first rounders
If we get Harley we can then off load the likes of Parish and Hobbs for more picks.

Still think that but WC might not care they need as much talent in the door they can get.
But he’s an average ruckman and plays half the gametime he has at a forward. he’s only completed one full season and he’s 27 this year.
As a pure ruckman, draper hasn’t reached the 30% you reckon pick 26’s have of being a decent player.
If he played for another club, most on here would laugh at the fact said club over rates someone who’s flashy as all ■■■■, but lacks quite an amount in actual substance onfield.
If there were another Sam Draper out there available for #26, you’d think it was freaking Christmas.

Getting rid of Draper would just add another 4-5 years to our team build. Get a player, develop him then trade him off to another team. Where’s the sense in that ?
We’ll be in a perpetual state of rebuild.
Harley Reid is most likely staying with WCE and if he leaves why would he want to come to a bottom 8 team like Essendon.

True we have spent a good 5-6 years on developing Draper and now we want to flick him off for a nothing pick certainly wont be band 1. The end of first round compo will become a mid 20’s pick after bidding.
We don’t even know if Bryan and Vigo will be just as good as Draper.

But it’s now a Blitz”truth” that $1m pa over 5 is the offer, and all comparisons are based on that.
So if he accepts a deal from us worth $800k over 4, the outrage is based on us offering him $1.1m over 5.
