Former #2 Big Sammy Draper

By Drapes. We will miss you.

My daughter is shattered. She loved him (as she did Stringer the year before). Hopefully we’ll have a couple of characters come through next year.

Which player will now be used for the kids memberships?? We used to have Heppell then Draper. Everyone else is pretty boring/don’t connect with kids.

Maybe Duursma with the bow and arrow… Redman/reddog thing is popular. That’s about it.

Two things can both be true.

Rosa is as yet untainted.

Catch ya Draper…. loyalty hahah

Lyon on AFL 360 basically saying Draper leaving when he probably need the senior leadership the most BUT it’s not worth burning the membership over.

He’s replaceable. We can get a ruck in. Most premiership teams don’t have many notable rucks.

Interesting narrative. I like it.

Yeah Lyon never rates rucks in terms of list builds.

And he is right imo.

Good luck Bears in getting Draper and Allen both regularly on the park. A lot of money invested in the two and they have average histories.

Funny how the media go allen yep band 1 for sure on 800- 900 but draper isn’t band 1 on 850

The AFL use the media to manage expectations on this stuff. They’ve been completely clear that Allen will be band 1 the entire time. Now we’ve found out what we are getting for Draper.

The compensation pick really has nothing to do with how good or bad the player is or where they are rated. It is based on a formula constructed around the price a club is willing to pay, the tenure and the age of the player and maybe a few other intangibles.

I mean we got Ben McKay and North got pick 3…I rest my case!!

Infuriating. Barrett is a weasel.

Exactly what most on here have been saying for weeks.

Not the first time I’ve heard this.

Age has a big say in it.

My understanding Is that the AFL use your age at the 1st of October. Allen is only 26 but Sam’s birthday is a few days before the cutoff so he’ll be 27.

so what would the fix have been?

Id be shocked if its not band one but either way it is what it is. If its not band one we package up picks to get gold coasts first

That is extreme optimism - to be in good shape and compete with the best teams we need to recruit at least about 3 A graders and about 5 B graders - and as long as they stay on the paddock
