Former #2 Big Sammy Draper

I just want more smack talk in the AFL.

Not fabricated nonsense either. Genuine smack talk. Whoever is playing North Melbourne this week - someone come out pregame and say they are hoping to really boost the percentage.

Jesus farking Christ

Yeah the Saga happened but do we really need to keep apologising for our existence?

We did it with Pete. Begged the tribunal to rub him out for as long as possible.

Now this ridiculously overblown Draper stuff. While the head coach is out there talking up Tarryn farking Thomas.

We should ask them to take the St Kilda points off us because they didn’t kick it straight enough.

My goodness.

I think Brad’s response to it was fine and in keeping with what I would expect from a seasoned leader of any organisation. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

The EFC has not been a respected organisation for a significant period of time. Brad is going about changing that. You don’t gain respect by doing what Draper did, and ultimately those who want respect, give respect.

I have no issue with the club distancing itself from the comments and the individual who makes them and calling it out unequivocally.

The EFC has been a joke club for over two decades now. The message to the players needs to consistently be pull your heads in, or ■■■■ off. The softly softly approach has not worked for us.

Also, we probs don’t know about half the dumb ■■■■ Draper does - he may well have accumulated a bit of heat from the club and patience may have been lost.

And it might have the exact opposite result, and everyone will remember the turning point. Have to wait and see.

I mean as if the on field dumb ■■■■ wasnt enough?

It’s silly to read anything into it like that.

I will say that the last thing I want Draper to be is less instinctive. And I hope I don’t see that.

Edit: lol. but he’ll probably just ignore it.
I hope so.
I don’t think he’s the sort of guy that would take it to heart.

I don’t think it will have any impact on his playing.

He will probably lay low in the media for a while now.

That’s about it.

Too soon

Well, yeah.
Because if that tweet up there is correct, he’s not appearing on his own podcast for a month.
I’m sure that was entirely his decision…

It’s funny how there can be so wildly differing views on his “instinctive” style of play.

I think that instinctiveness is genuinely holding him back. I can get over the lack of skills if he plays within his means.

Soccering the ball off the ground at dumb times, taking the ball out of the ruck contest deep in defence etc… that’s not good instinct.

Just play team orientated football. The ‘exciting’ or ‘instinctive’ stuff is where he really lets himself down.

Okay. So he isn’t on his podcast for a while. It might do him some good.

We don’t know how many conversations Brad has had with him.

And none of this seems heavy-handed to you…
shrugs
Okay, I get that.
It seems like a big friggin’ whack to me, and the whacks keep coming.
From his own club.
Like I said, I’m glad he doesn’t seem sensitive.

But anyway, come back after your possibly internal dropping and hold up our ruck because we’ve just seen that Goldy can’t do it on his own…

It’s hard to really say, because we don’t know how many times Brad has spoken with Sam. From the outside it doesn’t seem like a huge deal to me.

I thought Brad talking about Tarryn Thomas was far more detrimental.

You mean…supporting Thomas…

Edit: smfh…and Draper’s the story…

Exactly. He should not have even mentioned him.

I’m pretty over AFL mouthpieces in our own club “talking” about us winning respect whilst simultaneously saying we need actions “not words”. They don’t even realise how stupid it sounds.

I tell you what doesn’t win respect. Putting your foot slightly in it and then apologising to everyone about how sorry you are. What a bunch of grovelling wimps.

A better response after being asked would have been “I don’t think any opposition coach pays much attention to the opinions or attempts of humour from opposition players”. Done.

Instead we are bending over like Xavier Campbell is still in charge.

■■■■ Bevo, ■■■■ the Dogs.

Harden up Scott and support your players publicly, not just Domestic Violence scumbags.

Up Cooney Fark Port.

It says the coach won’t put up with players acting like a goose. About time. The club was unhappy after he re-enacted the dive post match against the Crows and very unhappy with his podcast comments. He’s piised off the coach ……I hope he fronts on Saturday and plays the game of his life
