Former #25 Jake Stringer (Part 2)

he probably deserves 2. but the issue is getting forwardline to function with Perkins, Langford, Jones, Stringer and Wright in there. Plus Caddy will demand selection soon.

and prefer to give midfield time to younger guys too.

he has given ok service at the club. wouldnt be upset if he left, dont mind him staying on avg $$ knowing he may decline from here.

Stringer and Langfors have been our best avenues to goal this year though it must be said.

Why doesnā€™t he just take 1 on good money, and back himself to have a good year ?

If we give this guy more than 1 year then joke is on us and 17 AFL clubs would be laughing

Coz he knows weā€™re ā– ā– ā– ā–  weak and weā€™d cave

I cannot understand why we are beholden to Stringer ?
On his day, heā€™s a match winner, and we donā€™t have many of those (if any).
So I understand the average fan reaction.

How many of those days does he have left though ?
If he wishes to leave because another team offers 2 years at good money, fine.

We then have an extra 750-800k for a couple of years to put towards some free agents, and there are a couple of really good ones this year.

Give Jake 1 year and recruit Zurhaar, Jake will have a career best year

Had the second most centre bounce attendances again tonight out of our non ruckman.

18 centre bounce attendances and not a single clearance.

Im getting seriously sick of seeing this week in week out and im starting to think him being best mates with Merrett is causing this.

It does not work.
Give the extra time to Durham and Caldwell who both absolutely deserve it.
When Hobbs is better put him in there too. We have stifled his development this year by prioritising a player who probably has 1 year left over him.

I dont care if the difference between those three younger players getting Stringers time in the middle is the difference between us finishing 8th as opposed to 6th. It is absolutely the right move to make.

Besides Langford, the rest are dispensable.

Hopefully Hunter, Caddy and a couple of capable forwards either big, medium or small, can be added in 2025 to replace these vanilla plodders.

Lock it in. Weā€™ll offer him 2 years minimum.

Has his drop in form coincided with more midfield time? I think he has to stay forward although with so many mids out our hands are tied. Heā€™s having no impact as a midfielder. Zero.

Not sure why we are persisting with him at the centre bounces. We are taking one of biggest weapons away from where he is most dangerous - up forward. He attended 18 centre bounces out of 28 last night for no centre clearances. Having both Goldy and Stringer leaves us massively exposed the other way if the ball isnā€™t a clean hit out to advantage.

Keep him forward.

He had zero clearances for the match. He made absolutely no difference when he was in the centre.

Why canā€™t people understand that Stringer is playing at CB to save Durham, Caldwell & Merrett from banging up their bodies.
Do you want us to get to Rd.20 and these guys are completely cooked ?

We are trying to protect a small-ish midfield group whilst Setterfield has been out, and our inside bull/head in the trough type in Hobbs also OUT.

I said this prior to the Suns game, that Stringer would be manning up Rowell & Cripps for large parts of our next 2 games, at least at CB.

He is no longer winning clearances and generally not playing that well.
There is a purpose for him being there though, for now.

Thought he was lazy.

In the first quarter with about 9:40 to go they had a kick at half back. Stringer was nearby, with Carlton players close to him.

He wandered around, watched one of them run past him and vaguely threw his arm out to say someone should watch this bloke while Jake manned no manā€™s land. That Carlton bloke then had the ball kicked to him at half forward.

Lav ran up and spoiled the mark, but that seemed to throw the backline numbers of our whack and Cripps had a shot on goal.

I think he will come back refreshed after the bye, he looks low energy. He needs to spend more time forward though, his CB game has dropped off a cliff.

You forgot Parish also out, he also gives them a rest.

Thatā€™s why Zurhaar could be a great pickup; it .allows us to switch the two around

Yes, what we definitely need is someone who is both a less capable midfielder and a less capable forward than Stringer to rotate with him.

Letā€™s just stack our team with more medium forwards who arenā€™t big contested marks and arenā€™t great when the ball hits the deck. Delicious

Zurhaar is playing in a crap side be very hard for him when the ball hardly goes down there. Plus playing in a losing side every week will make it hard to get motivated and play well

He would have been watching in envy last night seeing his mate Mckay and Goldy playing in a big game with over 88k
