I think for his confidence Francis will get first crack. A lot more to lose by playing Franga in the VFL than Baldwin.

Balwynā€™s got a lot of footy smarts. Still raw and naturally coming to grips with playing any sort of footy but thereā€™s so much to work with and like here. So much so, they named a suburb after him.

Really liked his game last night and he freed up Peter Wright on a number of occasions with smart blocking and clever feigned leads. Cant jump but is strong as an ox and has a lot of presence at full forward - I have him just in front of Francis at this stage

Baldwin looked good but still not quite there. Heā€™s getting close. To build his confidence Iā€™d prefer to see him play the first 3 Rounds in the VFL before releasing him to a season of AFL. He still needs to be confident of his knees so that he can regularly go for the big marks. On the same note, Jones seems a little underdone and may also need some VFL time to build him up, but probably one of these 2 needs to be there alongside Wright and Francis, so that Stringer can be free to do his magic.

Key forward Baldwin, coming off two knee reconstructions as a junior, again showed his presence and according to assistant coach Blake Caracella played an important team game.

His block that set free teammate Peter Wright was noted by Fox Footy commentator Nick Riewoldt.

ā€œI thought he played really well. He did a lot of things off the ball that probably wouldnā€™t have been seen on the TV screen, but heā€™s a young player who has missed a lot of footy and weā€™re really happy with his progress,ā€ Caracella said.
