Former #30 B. Zerk-Thatcher

More a reference to his priors

I like zerk

Shout out to BZT last night.
Came on and looked in control.

Feels like we have never given this guy a decent run at it.

I really feel like he should have played 4 quarters in both games.

I dunno but he just looks like a capable defender to me, he’s no frills but I reckon he’s a player. Would love to see him get a run at it

Good business to sign him for 2 yrs

He is good back up as Reid, Brand, Eyre and McBride are still unknowns.

Has he ever been tried forward at AFL level ??
May be an option.

I think it’s clear his main issue at the moment is his work with ball in hand. I’m not convinced that’s not confidence, or wouldn’t improve significantly once he gets some poise with more experience. That’s why I’d like to give him more of a run.

He is slow of mind to make quick instinctive decisions with ball in hand, exacerbated by a problematic kicking action which doesnt lend itself to modern footy.

Im not sure confidence will improve these weaknesses.
He needs to become a good stopper, or intercept marking player.
He does have good hands, but then the poor ball use would undo his good work.

If not for laverde’s improvement last year, zero would have been given a lot of games to cent a spot. I think the coaches are reluctant to play two guys they see as pure stoppers. Stewart theoretically adds more to the rebound and the intercept front.

ā€œTheoreticallyā€ the operative word IMO. Before he went back I thought we’d see some Hurley-like distribution by foot, but I don’t think Stewart gives us much of that in reality. But I digress!

Maybe if we bump this thread they will bring him

I will be calling for a Royal Commission if he doesn’t replace Stewart this week

I’ve really noticed how much he’s improved his running speed. Used to look like a loping giraffe but has shown some surprising bursts of speed this year. Love to see him get another crack at it.

Stewart is on the undroppable list

We just re-signed Zerk because we didn’t want Port playing with our toys

He was gaining ground on Tex in the intra when Tex was running towards goal which surprised me.

Better get ready to make the call, as I don’t think he will be getting dropped this week

I imagine (or at least hope) there’s methods to the club’s madness. I just cannot understand why under performing players remain in the team for extended periods. Give this bloke a crack ffs.

I’m all for bringing in BzT for Stewart. He’s gunna get beaten at times for sure, but it’s time to start giving him consistent seniors experience to see what he can give us for the future.

In the past I can understand the ā€œneeds time as a key position tallā€ argument. But he’s had time now.

In the end, we need our lines playing as much consistent time together as possible to truly fast track the rebuild. I’m happy to see the Stewart experiment go a little longer, but at some point it HAS to be time to play this kid.

I dont see the point of re-signing him if we arent going to play him. Stewart is clearly not up for it. Why not play someone with at least some potential for a long term career with us?

Well, a club does need Depth… he’s proven to be the next in line when we get hit with an injury to our back talls.

But yeh, BzT is 24 this year. Time to give him a good crack at it imo.

I suspect that we’ll see it happen if the Stewart experiment doesn’t bear fruit this year. Stuzz will be out of contract and primed to be delisted.
