If he got dropped for his games and Stewart doesn’t for his last you’d be asking questions of selection.

We are going to regret it big time if he leaves. Will probably star at another club if given the opportunity.
I agree, should have played a few more if only to build his trade value. Needs a big pre-season pumping weights and doing shuttle runs.
There could be improvement with Zerk, the other bloke currently at FB, not so sure

Also, I don’t really buy these calls about Stewart’s good kicking (he is a good kick) being a decisive factor in him getting picked ahead of BZT. Our backline already has several players who are good kicks and have plenty of offensive capability (Ridley, Redman, Hind, Laverde and potentially Francis). I’d much prefer us to pick the guy who is the better defender at full-back.

Lav is a good match up for Naughton and Francis is as well, certainly not Stu. Both those guys will give Naughton nightmares before the game, thinking about it, yeah Francis can go with him in the air better than Lav and will give him a clip or 2 around the ears if he gets on fire…he is the man for the job…think Zerk might be a metre or 2 too slow
Laverde might not play and I reckon they’ll leave Francis forward…
If they do Stewart will get pumped…I don’t think this is the match for Zerk either…the Bullies are too quick, with Stewart really struggling, well 2 slowies is 1 too many.
If I was Truck, I’d hide Stewart in the forward line and bring on Francis and tell him every air ball is his for the taking, and if he got a couple of weeks for rough play caused by smashing Bulldog players, I’d shout him a couple after the tribunal as thanks for setting the standard for the next 5 years.

And their smalls are good in the air.
Hey not saying I agree with their decision. Just seems to be the writing on the wall. The 10kg difference (Stewart 99kg and zerk 89kg per footy Live) may also be a factor but that’s easier for Zerk to fix than height.
I really do hope we move Stewart forward this week, and give Zerk the last few games to show something. He deserves a chance.

Would be shocked if we received a pick under 50 for him, sad as well as I think he’s a good chance to develop into a solid player at the level.

I’m still hoping he stays.
But I think he’d be silly to do so.
Reckon he’s a player that needs to feel he belongs at AFL level to start to see the best of him. Being in and out of the side all the time I feel really affects Zerk. Just don’t know why we didn’t give him the opportunity this year to have a real go at it rather than trying to turn Stewart into our lockdown FB. Yes I know Stewart is bigger and stronger right now, but wasn’t this year about developing a young team to contend in the future.
I know he has deficits in his game atm but really do think he can turn into a long term KPD for us. Obviously our coaches don’t see it that way so looks like we’re stuck with Stewart for the time being.

Although he is 195 cm, I think he will be able to handle the bigger key forwards in time. He is strong skinny and will get stronger, has a great leap, great judgement and is very courageous. Interestingly May is 193 cm. Hope we can keep him, I have a sneaking suspicion he’s going to be a beauty.

That is too sensible.
Hope I’m wrong but I imagine he won’t be on the list in a few months time. If this eventuates, I’d love to know the club’s reasoning behind this move. Should have played far more than he has.
Anyone have any insights as to why he’s had such limited opportunities?

He’s no worse than James Stewart. Id like to know too. He deserved at least another 5 to 8 games so we didn’t die wondering.

Remember how Hooker’s head was being called for as he was starting out? Not everyone is an instant Ridley. Hell, even Weitering stunk it up for a year or so and there were calls of what to do with him.
The issue isn’t Zerk’s trajectory, its that he isn’t getting games despite him showing signs at times which has me convinced he is SA bound and we are investing our time elsewhere.
