IMO there’s probably 2 other factors
(1) a bit more of a carefree attitude and leeway given by the coaches in the early days
(2) opposition have probably put zero planning into you
Or they just coached the flare and natural game out of him.
We will never know the coaches instructions or if his mental state was up to being AFL standard
This is most likely.
lol no, even though his class was on display, it was evident he was scared of his own shadow.
He knew he was soft and scared of contact, that got in his head and he just got worse as time went on.
It’s a big shame because we seriously could use his skills.
The only way he can get back in the AFL system is to build his physical strength and use that to boost his confidence to take contact on, but not even Tom Cutler could do that and he was a big fella, so I’m not getting my hopes up for him.
Well B, I think it definitely applied to AdJ. He made the big time, showed a few flashes then coasted.
We went to a VFL game a few years ago, as you do, to get a handle on who’s having a real crack. ADJ had played a string of games then got dropped- terrible form.
Posted this after the game.
That and Brad has a hard on for Menzie and Gresham.
I’m surprised Alwyn Daniher never made it.
He wasn’t scared in his first couple of games. Got crunched a couple of times early on but do agree that it got a lot worst as the time went on.
Melbourne threw Jack Watts to the wolves early on before he was ready. Maybe we did the same thing with ADJ??? Not sure.
Jack Watts is a bit different in that he was specifically targeted in his debut and it crunched his confidence.
The opposite is likely true for Davey. Nobody really paid him any mind and he looked good. As soon as even a skerig of pressure was applied, he wilted.
