What about when Michael Prior called to his teammates to “ get on the black #%<>”, meaning an Aboriginal player, to distinguish him from all the white %#><s who were his teammates. He was taken to the Tribunal for that and got off IIRC, because he hadn’t been abusing y guard, ie, the black one.

Thanks for posting the highlights. Nice to see such good forward craft by Davey.
It highlights how good young players seem to wither in our VFL team. He should have developed those skills with us but then again I can’t think of a single player who has developed with our VFL team. A real concern in the coming years as we ‘rebuild’.
Just another reason to feel depressed as a bomber supporter.
Given;
(1) no one else has picked up and therefore
(2) he’s not performing at AFL level
Hindsight would suggest it makes perfect sense.

And yet we’re complaining that no player is performing in the VFL…. Even more so in a position we are desperate for.
Stop acting like our list is too good to have a small forward who kicks 5 goals in the VFL.

Did you watch any of his matches?
Or are you making an assessment of Jayden, based off Alwyn struggling in the AFL?
I don’t watch all of the VFL games but surely he played a few decent ones that year. He only played one season after coming off his second knee injury. Considering the abhorrent contracts we hand out like confetti I would hope that we have enough list spots to give someone like a him an extra year even if just something like a rookie pick

They were not my points:
1 - We did not really give him a chance, under those circumstances.
2 - His type is a major list need.
We are now seemingly prioritising youth, when we most definitely were not back then.

I still think Alwyn got a bit of a raw deal, he was averaging a goal a game as a small forward in a vfl side that was pretty much a park side and the we decided to take smartt play him ahead of alwyn and move him back to finish his career off. He was pretty much the definition of a player that needed time and development

One of the stranger things I’ve heard from Essendon supporters over the years,
was that Both Jayden and Alwyn should be delisted, because Alwyn was struggling.

I’m not sure with Alwyn.
Yes we did him dirty with refusing to play him in his natural position, but he didn’t help himself either.
He had plenty of opportunities.
What we did to Jayden was an utter disgrace.
It was a huge mistake.

Jayden was horrible what we did but I think we mismanaged both is my point it’s a bit of theme for our young players in particular those in the vfl
