Former #37 - Gach Nyuon

WOW when his suspension is up BRING HIM IN

At least we’ve picked up a player who knows how to use his head.

I'm not completely sure how the whole racism thing works, but what does his Sudanese background have to do with the article and why it was deemed necessary to include?

Well, theres a few reasons. With a name like Gach readers are probably curious where he is from. It probably generates discussion too because some people will automatically assume he is dangerous because he is Sudanese and others will defend him by saying he is still learning how we do things in Australia, tough upbringing etc. Papers gonna be papers.

I hate the big papers for obvious reasons but its certainly not racist mentioning where he is from, Im sure if Emma Quayle mentioned it blitzers wouldn’t care. If it was Heppel theyd mention he was from Traralgon and if it was Hooker theyd mention he was from WA.

One of our players did something stupid and got bad press. Nitpicking the paper for how they reported it just avoiding the issue at hand. We should be grateful they didnt even mention the sorry saga.

There is no reason whatsoever to mention his race. It has nothing to do with the topic of the article which is about a report for a headbutt during a football game. It’s a sad state of affairs when people feel the need to point out racial difference when it has no bearing on anything.

Generating discussion is a weak excuse, especially if your going to justify by bringing up lazy stereotypes. Generating division might be a better term to use in this situation.

There is nothing unusual about being Sudanese. He’s not an exotic curiosity, he’s a person and he deserves to be treated like anyone else.

The action surprised me tbh, But there is rightly a lot of negativity about that type of hit, which can cause devastating injuries if skillfully delivered with extreme malice. However, this was little more than a nod. 0 weeks for the hit, 2 weeks to discourage anyone else from trying it on a footy field.

Devastating farkin injuries???

Oh yeah, and a finger can go all the way into the brain if it’s poked long and hard enough through the eye socket…

It’s one thing to say he was born in Sudan, but the article states he is a ā€œSudanese ruckmanā€.

He came here with his family when he was seven or something. Pretty confident he would have Australian citizenship by now.

Sudanese ruckman delivers Glasgow kiss to Coburg footballer.

A truly multicultural game!

But, does his mother sew?

Gach knocking Nyuon out.

He should have played the race card

According to the Herald Sun Gach is a Sudanese ruckman. Bugger me I thought was Australian! Does that mean he is in the overseas recruit category like Connor etc were? :)

No, it just means the Liberal Govrnment hasn’t caught up with him yet …

Gach, Tippa, Yestin. Parish, Brown, Hartley, Morgan. A couple of easily burned gingers. Full neopolitan draft.

I think he’s a bomber supporter too. Really exciting draft - stoked we got him

Actually more excited about this one. Even if his name doesn’t make an appropriately exciting hashtag

#stillexcitedabout #TIPPAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Awesome pickup, will spend two years learning his craft and then get a main list spot.
