Former #39 Patrick Voss - false messiah

Voss is an ok footballer who could have become something, 3rd tall of which we have more than we need

If you arent gonna do the right things when trying to earn your place you never will

Stringer is absolutely elite when going at more than 70% fitness so yeah those guys get more chances
Just like every workplace in the world gives more leniency to the people who are top 10% in their field vs someone who is decent and might be good one day

This.

There’s been a bit of say one thing and do the other with Scott so far, I’d say. It’s…worrying.

I find this delisting to be very strange, and not because I thought Voss was going to turn out to be some kind of superstar. He’s got some attributes that we’re in dire need of. And for all the talk about his rumoured lifestyle, he’s a kid who won the VFL b&f playing forward in a crap team. Honestly, his lifestyle couldn’t have been that bad to have achieved that.

Stringer is only elite when he is 100% fully fit…which he very rarely is

Who are our 3rd talls that the club rate over him?

Weed- awful player, who shouldn’t even be on the list
Jones- constantly injured, last time he showed good form was in 2021
Langford- one of the best 3rd forwards in the game
Stringer- constantly injured,unfit,fat,lazy

Kepler Bradley won the vfl BnF too

Just for some perspective

Neither of has EVER seen Jake Stringer 100% fully fit, 75-90% at times sub 70% regularly

Was he on the main or rookie list?

he also played over 100 games

How many good ones?

more than Voss!

Should have played seniors early this year. Also don’t think it was likely he made it at AFL level based on his marking issues and lack of height for a KPF. In isolation, this call doesn’t bother me.

One of them is really good at footy and the other isn’t.

dont think height was an issue. 194cm

We should have paid Wimpman out and kept Voss. Wimp has all the presence of a shadow, and none of the substance. Voss is largely unknown, but one thing we do know is he will always contest, something that Wimpy is pretty much allergic to.

It’s not huge these days for a guy lacking in other areas though, is it? If he was a great kick and mark, you could probably look past it.

yeah agree. I dont think hes the modern forward and maybe lacked a few tricks. I love his aggression but is that enough to keep him on the list probably not.

Brad Scotts lost the plot

Not too hung up about this tbh. Was he worth another year? Maybe, but the coach clearly doesn’t rate him.

Should have been given a game earlier on in the year when form necessitated, but it didn’t happen, so the writing was on the wall.

We move on.

I think the fact his hands were made out of bricks probably put him behind the 8 ball a bit.

Disgraceful decision by the club and list managers from a supporters perspective. You can’t delist a young aggressive key position player without trying him in a senior game, especially after winning the reserves B&F. They can argue about cultural fit and footy IQ, but how about development of those deficiencies rather than see them as a problem? Just dumb.

Voss was a Giants academy player, they choose not to pick him in his draft year.

He then made it through the National Draft where no one picked him.

We picked him as a rookie then didn’t offer him a contract through trade period this year.

No other club came calling for him.

He is now delisted, we will see if another club will come for him.

But that indicates to me that teams don’t see him making it at AFL level.
