Yeah but players always try to put a positive spin on being delisted, he was producing in the vfl the same as he is now in the afl, dunno why he couldn’t have turned over this supposed new professional leaf at Essendon, even the threat of being delisted might have changed him.
Don’t really care if it’s Scott or the list management. If we can’t provide the environment or the hard nosed approach to development required to have the penny drop for this kid then we’ve failed dismally. If not giving him a game in the firsts was our ‘tough love’ then we are a disgrace.
Again, he won the bnf in the VFL. Clearly raw talent, and proven consistently, as opposed to the apparently refined talent of our numerous early picks which appears to have been almost completely wasted to date.
If anything he seems like more of a prik for Freo. They’ve played him as a key position figure head, given him all the encouragement in the world to be himself, why the fark wouldn’t he feel like he’s turned a corner?
I’m still angry that Dodoro delisted Voss against Brad Scott’s wishes…
There’s always misinformation or excuses re ex Essendon players, which makes it hard to know what to believe. Alex Pearce says his standards were low, yet looks promising at the Dockers. People say Daniher was unprofessional in his rehab yet went on to play almost every single game with the Lions and won a premiership. Allegedly Saad didn’t want to defend, which is clearly not the case, etc etc.
By no means a jab, just pointing out that I don’t believe 99% of any of the allegations people make when in defence of Essendon, because I fear it will further enable a culture which lacks accountability.
Well it was Brendon Goddard who really started the Daniher lack of professionalism with his rehab. Fans went with it then
When JUH was drafted that pre-season I heard a story of Bont reading him the riot act in public about what was expected of him in regards to being in the right state for training. No big deal in isolation but looking back now if the Bulldogs gave him the Voss treatment would he be better off now?
It’s true - he had off field discipline issues, and was seen as a “smart arse” by the coaches and other players. Ultimately it’s the player himself that has to turn it around. He has to make the decision to change what he’s doing. Voss didn’t do that at Essendon but after being delisted and picking up a spot at Freo after nobody else would take him; then finally the penny drops. That’s Voss’ fault - because ultimately he has made the decision to change his behaviour.
Or was it the illustrious ‘Development Program’ at EFC that failed to develop him that was the issue?
Yes that’s part of it - but mostly it’s on Voss because he chose not to live the AFL lifestyle. The club can only do so much - the player has to actually change their behaviour.
Especially when given multiple warnings, it reaches a point where you are undermining the coach and you have to go
JUH is even dumber than I thought if he needed to be told that the bulldogs train in Victoria.
Now I think about it, I’m much happier knowing Essendon players are at home in bed by 11pm each night.
Even if it means we aren’t winning games of football, it’s the AFL lifestyles I support this team for.
Agree we should have given him a run but I’m glad we got rid of him.
Bloke is a deadset pelican. Runs around trying to hurt people, rates himself 100 out of 10 and has achieved very little. Mouthing off at the crowd after kicking a goal last night when he had barely had a kick all night. He is a goose.
An unanswerable. And probably a vastly different scenario as well.
Leading scorer on the ground AGAIN
Definitely not the place for naughty boys the efc. Future community leaders/property developers/wellness entrepreneurs. It’s a shame they start on those things before they’ve proven themselves on the field though.
Do you reckon Collingwood are wracked with guilt about keeping de Goey on? Many examples of sticking fat with awful young blokes for the results, it’s a money game and the fans expect value. Get real.
Has been instrumental in turning the game three weeks in a row. Carey used to do that. Carey’s a repulsive human being.
Disagree. We need swagger….we are a team of choir boys and ‘great’ leaders with no spirit.
Been to a few freo games this year, and the way he interacts with the crowd after the game is awesome. I think people have misinterpreted enjoying life and making the most of an AFL career as ‘rating himself 100/10’.
If it makes people feel better by thinking we got rid of a flog, so be it. But the truth is it was a MONUMENTAL LIST MANAGEMENT FUCKK UP
Have to agree. We need our own special players that everyone else hates. Team sheet is way too nice. Take Mansell shoving Nic Martin when he did his ACL, nobody showed an iota of care, with exception to Durham.
